I was just curious how much water everyone drinks per day.. like in cups (I think that's 8 ounces). I read that people should get at least 8-10 glasses of it a day.. but when they say "glasses" I'm not sure if they mean technical cups or what. I usually use a cup that can hold about 2 actual cups of water to drink... and I drink about 4 of those a day (not too much :/) So how does everyone else do in satisfying the recommended amount to drink daily? :nigel:

I drink 4 really big glasses a day, plus whenever I go out I always have a bottle or 2 of water as well. It's really all I drink aside from juice and tea on occasions.

If I'm at work I usually drink between 2L to 3L a day but when I'm at home, I tend to not drink as much and I can feel the difference. I always have a bottle of water with me when I go out.

The 8-10 rule is a myth. Drink when you're thirsty. Sometimes thirst is mistaken for hunger. Some days you'll need more fluids other days less. A rule of thumb is if your lips are dry then you are on the beginning stages of dehydration (aside from them possibly being chapped from bad weather).

I drink anywhere from a 1/2 gallon to a gallon a day, depending on my level of activity and how hot it is (I live in AZ). I've heard different things about how much you "should" drink. Some say we don't actually need 8 glasses, and some say we should drink much more than that. I have found personally that drinking lots of water helps my digestion and makes me feel good overall. When I was a kid I never drank water and used to get a lot of headaches. Looking back on it now, I think I was probably dehydrated a lot of the time. I certainly do pee a lot now though!

From my understanding, the recommended 8 'glasses' is actually meant to be the equivalent of 8 cups (64oz). If you are anywhere close to that number, and don't feel parched, you are probably fine. Also remember that a lot of foods have a high water content ... like fruits and veggies. While most of your H20 should be consumed in its 'pure' form, you shouldn't discount the fact that a healthy diet with lots of fresh produce contains more water than one might think.

I've heard that thirst is the first sign of dehydration.

Anywhere from 3-5L/day. Less if I start to get all bloated and whatnot.
(that and about 40oz. of Diet Pepsi :shy: )

I refill my Snapple bottle atleast 4 times a day, the bottle is 20oz. So on average I get about 80oz of water a day... is that enough? What is that in servings?
