I bought some black tea today and I was just wondering if anybody knew if tea is in general good for you. There's been tons of studies on green tea. But I haven't heard much about black tea. :-/ The only thing that scares me is the caffiene in it. It sounds yummy especially as the weather gets colder, for breakfast... I usually have milk so it should be a nice change. If you have any info please let me know, thanks.

All teas have antioxidants. The difference between balck and green is that green is dried and not fermented like black teas. This helps keep all the good stuff intact. Don't get me wrong, black teas are still very healthy, its just that green teas are known to be better for you and more potent. Personally, I like the taste of green over black, but thats just me. My favorite green tea is Bigelow's (sp?) regular green. I also like Tazo's China Green Tips and Celestrial Seasonings Authentic. My favorite black tea is cinnamon-apple spice from Celestrial Seasonings. I drink 4 cups of green every day and 1-2 cups of the Cinnamon-apple spice. The studies say that 10 (!!) cups of green is shown to bring out the best results, but for me thats over doing it. Hope this helps.
Cheers.

i'm not so sure about how good or bad black teas are 'cause i tend to avoid them personally, but here in south africa we have a red tea which is extremely good for you. it has been a staple tea here for a long time, but now scientists are doing more research into its health benefits, one of which is extremely high levels of antioxidants - and it also has no caffiene. it is called rooibos (translated to redbush) and has a distinctive (good) flavour. when i was in america the last time, i saw it available there. the uk also imports it from SA. it is especially good with no milk and just lemon juice and sweetener of your choice (before moving towards veganism, it was honey for me... HMMMMM).

There is also white tea which supossedly has the most antioxidents of them all. I've only had it a couple times and it was really good but pretty expensive.

tea cures everything bad. tea is god. tea is the answer.
long live tea.
yeah it's good for you! green is the best. i would recomend loose leaf though. mmmm, heavenly. there's so many different kinds - sancha, dragon well, gunpowder, etc. you gotta try am all :) or loose jasmine. or brown rice tea (it has it's moments).
rooibos and white is yummy too.
if you are more of a fan of tea bags though, the better brands, i think, are yamamotoyama or choice teas. or numi isn't bad.
go tea crazy!
how could i forget oolong! and i like plain old black also. but really, it's so much better loose!
