I tend to get a lot of my stuff at Holland and Barrett- but they aren't too cheap. Also places like Tescos and sainsburys have started doing a "free From" range which have all sorts of things. Even vegan bourbon biscuits. Flapjack is always good too.

Quorn is okay. I am annoyed that they include eggs in their products. My mum sent them a lesson recently and got a good reply- though I dont think they are going to change as a result. Her letter complained they where stored next to real meat (not their fault) they are flavoured like meat (why not have some veggie ispired flavours) and that the bacon one (which requires cooking) isnt in different packaging to the others- and she once served it without cooking as it isn't clearly marked.

I might write them about the egg thing. I think most of the cereal bars are veggie and they are cheaper if you buy them in bulk.

I avoid Quorn and instead try to get Redwoods products when i can. They do a great range of vegan products. http://www.redwoodfoods.co.uk/
I dont buy these sorts of things all the time, so I dont mind the cost when i do.

I'm not too keen on quorn. The cheapest place to get it isn't H&B - It's probably tesco or asda. Most supermarkets, particularly the bigger ones, will stock a good selection of vegetarian stuff, which quite obviously, will include quorn.

Redwood foods do do some good stuff which is available at many of the larger H&B stores. The fishless fingers are bloody freaky. I tried them awhile ago, and they are pretty much like fish.

Generally, i prefer to get linda mccartney products over quorn stuff, and i am a big fan of eating realy food. I'm a lazy arse too, so I find myself eating linda mccartney ready meals most of the time.

Im one of the many people who are allergic to Quorn.
You know its fungus that grows in soil. It aint mushrooms, its mould or something.
It took 3 times for me to realise thats what was making me sick. If I eat it Im violently sick for a good 6 hours after.
I hate the stuff.

Thank you, i've been wondering what they're like since i saw them in my local whole-foods last week. Are they that real? i've missed fish fingers so much, they're one of those childhood things that i used to love. I thought they were really expensive though, like £3 for a packet of 6 or something.
Also has anyone noticed that H&B have now got tofutti cheese slices? I cant say they're that good though, dont taste at all cheese like, more like chemicals, not something i'll be having again i prefer the tofutti cream cheese.

Anyway lucyrulz if you're not vegan, or if you're a honey vegan you can get cheap cereal bars alpen etc. i think sainsburys and tesco etc. do their own brands which are cheaper. Also i did notice last time i was in a 'big' sainsburys that they did their own vegetarian range of frozen foods which were cheaper than the main brands, it might be worth a look. Either that or if you're upto cooking your own, make a big batch of different veggie burgers etc. and freeze them and then just cook them as and when you need them. Also i believe asda ( not to encourage ready meals as i think the things are evil in boxes) do cheap vegetarian ready meals for 99p each.

Oh and as for Quorn, i've had the quorn pieces, I liked them the first time i had them and then read the packet and never found a suitable for vegetarians label which scared me off, it tasted too realistic for my liking. But i've never tried any other Quorn items as none of them are vegan.

Do they make this information readily available to the public? I think thats a little gross, and it makes sense that its likely to cause allergies. ICK. :stinkeye:

The redwoods fishy fingers are a little pricey, but they're definitely wortha go sometime. It's soya based fish-flavoured stuff. i tried them, and they are very fishy! (They have vegan and vegetarian society accredation, so you need not worry!)

Anyway, as for quorn, it is made from fungus, and that doesn't really bother me. I'm not allergic to it either, so I'm not bothered about that. However, some people are allergic to it, and it's best that they don't eat it.

P.S. Don't bother with the quorn premiere at mcdonalds - It's rubbish!

I love quorn- but I am stuck in America- the country of few veggie foods. (Sorry Americans, but in my opinion it's true) Moving here meant missing most of the foods I used to eat so I have embraced quorn's arrival! Loki- hearing that McDonalds has quorn is music to my ears. Would never eat there but at least they try in England. Everything here is wrapped up in meat and veggies and vegans are hard to find.

*Quorn is made from what they call Mycoprotein. Protein gotten from Myconid-type stuff. (i.e. Mushrooms) So yeah, there will be people allergic to it.
