Tried these for the first time recently and thought they were awfully tasty. I was confused about something though. It says nutritional yeast in the ingredients and the goofy message on the back of the bag emphasizes that they added nutritional yeast for added nutrition, and yet in the nutritional information there is no mention of B vitamins or any other significant nutrient for that matter. What gives? If no one here knows anything about this, I guess I'll write the company...

I have had the same questions. As a matter of fact, I am eating tings right now. Please let us know what you find out if you do end up writing to the company.

B vitamins are not required on a nutrition facts label. Of vitamins, only A and C are required. If a company lists B vitamins it's purely voluntary.

This is the answer. I find this labeling rule fairly annoying, personally. Some manufacturers give more details at their website, but it's rare.

Why wouldn't they want to put the extra nutritional info on even if they don't have to? It seems like that would be a selling point for people interested in trying Tings...

Its so odd that you should mention this today, because I was looking at my bag of Tings and noticed that they said they were good for you, and I don't see what about the nutritional information would make them good for you?? I'm not terribly concerned because I think I've eaten about a handful of them a week since I bought the bag, but it is rather misleading!

Here's my reply from the company:
Thanks for your e-mail. The nutritional yeast that we use in our
snacks is Red Star Nutritional Yeast - if you go to their website
(www.redstaryeast.com) you can see the benfits of nutritional yeast which I am
sure you are already aware of. When testing for nutritional values for
our snacks we follow the standard label format. This meaning that
Riboflavin, Vitamin B and a host of other values are not part of that
standard format (therefore why you do not see them listed on our label). The
only full nutritional values that I can give you are what is on our
label now - I have no further information for you. I will pass along to
the powers that be and suggest that these values be on the label as they
are a concern for our consumers to be able to see. I hope that I have
addressed your concerns and hope that you will continue to enjoy our
snacks.
Sincerely,
Kelly Fox

Not a bad reply! My guess is that the vitamin B levels tests so low that they're probably almost non-existent.

I tried to convince my mom they were a good suppliment, and I needed a bag a day to keep my b12 up. Didn't work :(
