Well I was browsing some of the photo galleries and I thought I would ask. How many of you in the teens forum at least claim to be goth. Also what is it all about?

I'm not a goth, but I heard it's about worshipping Satan....very peaceful.

it's a dark romanticism. Often characterized by the nature in which the person dresses (said to be of "gothic" cultural orgins) and usually in black and white. It has evolved to mean an obsession with death, the ocult, or satanic rituals. But let it be known that 80's goth (Peter Murphy, The Smiths), 90's goth (Maralyn Manson), and 00's goth (death metal-ish, "hardcore") are not the same dress, demeanor, culture, or beliefs.
hehehe.... I love to BS!!! but the music part is true. Go to a Peter Murphy concert, a Manson concer, and a... oh, damn, who's one of the new-age kill your self bands? concerts and you'll see a dramatic difference in the culture of the audience.

You know, I was raised with Gary Numan, Skinny Puppy, Dead Can Dance, but i must say, Goth, as it was concieved in the 80's has died as with every other catagory. The youth of today are feeding from the graves of yesteryears only to produce something of a phase.
Interesting.

dude.
I would totally be new romantic (the 80s Cure-esque goth) but never this. Goth is soo like...blah. I hate labeling myself, so I am not even gonna bother.

Every outward sign that conveys the 'goth' image to the public (like makeup, period clothing, jewlery, accesories) is expensive. Or, it doesn't fit into my Marshall's budget.

Since everyone else is posting pictures of their "goth" "phases" I'm going to join in :P.
Mine wasn't a "Goth" stage though, I just liked to wear a lot of black, fishnets etc.. I still do really.. but now I wear a lot of other colours too!
I must have also been going through a "look at me take photos of myself" phase. My hair isn't anywhere near as short as it looks.
I don't like labels. Most labels claim non-conformity, yet they conform to the standards set by that group anyway. I heard someone say that they were in the "gothic crowd" for a little bit, and they thought "Wow this is so cool, they don't care about what others think etc" but then he said that theres all the "Oh no *** isn't gothic", which is just the same as any other steriotype.
Sure I think goths can exsist, but I think that theres a lot of kids that just do it to be *cool*. But theres also a lot that probably don't.

i make my own clothes, and when i can i waste it on band tee shirts, ala the one in my avatar. ill wear this till it dies. then ill make a patch out of it. I am way to broke to even be really "punk" much less "goth".

My friends told me I'd make a hot goth, so I dressed goth for them. I think I'm the worst goth person ever though - I smile and laugh too much :p It was fun though! Dressing in styles different from your typical one is so much fun!
