^^^Can send me a birthday email if she really wants to although it isn't quite as exciting.
AOD is posting things that seem like twins of me tonight, even more than usual. No matter what she says, it seems to be true for me too :dizzy:

My mom is going to make me carrot cake tomorrow, I'm happy, carrot cake is the best.
I wanted to buy a pea coat tonight, but I didn't because it was wool. :-/

I've gotten 4 PMs in the last 2 days. I think that's more than I've had in my whole time before now at VB combined.

aww...
don't you sometimes just wish it didn't make a difference to you? like you could just be blind like everyone else and go, "wool! it's pretty and warm and dyes well!" instead of "wool it's... not animal friendly..."

And it was really warm, and soft, and looked good, and...I'm going to stop now.
I really want to get a pea coat, but I can't find one that isn't wool, plus, they are mostly pretty costly.

I think the definition of pea coat pretty much dictates wool... which is no fun. you might be able to find one at one of the vegan clothing sites, but if your parents are anything like mine they'll be like, "yeah whatever. you don't need a special vegan (insert item) ordered from a special vegan store."

i like pea coats, but it's usually not that cold here and i'd feel strange wearing one. i'm pretty sure i've seen non-wool ones, though.

Nooooo. I tried starting up the Sims 2 and it says: "Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The application will now terminate."
And it won't start. I thought I had all the system requirement to run this. I downloaded the 9.0c DirectX, but the stupid game won't work. How am I supposed to know if I have a compatible graphics adapter. :grr:

Computers are annoying. Talk about a waste of a birthday gift, a computer game that won't work on my computer. I know I should have sprung for the new walkman.
And games aren't returnable once you open them :-/

maybe you could do something with your computer to make it work...
I'm not exactly sure what, because I'm not a computer genius... maybe I could ask my dad though. He's a computer guy and he can usually make things work...

Yea, my dad is a computer guy too. I'll ask him in the morning I guess, he'll either fix it, or tell me I should have checked the requirements more carefully before I bothered buying it. Anybody know how to check what video card your computer has?

what my daddy says:
"a. check the adapter company's web site for updated adapter drivers. to do this, right click =my computer= then properties, hardware, device manager, display adapter to find the name of the adapter"
"Or, if directx has been installed, there is a configuration tool that comes with it. use that to test the compatibility with various types of video. It may be that your friend's adapter can only use directx version 8. This is unusual for newer computers. Check the microsoft.com website, do a search for direct x to look for more detailed instructions."
(what this means and whether it will work, I know not)

I feel stupid, it says you need 256 MB RAM, I could have sworn that I checked that I had enough before, but apparently I only have 240 MB. Grrr.
Well, I guess I'll keep for when I get a new computer in 4 years or so

I'm feeling grouchy and stupid, I think I'll go drown my sorrows in sleep and things may look better in the morning. Bye.

240 sounds weird. usually the amount of memory will be a power of two. you probably do have 256.

he says,
"your friend may have an older (version 8) directx. directx 9 needs to be installed. Tell her to try the bit about downloading newer drivers for her display adapter if directx 9 refuses to install. At worst, it may simply not work on her hardware and she'll have to go buy a newer display adapter card. That is a last resort, of course, but they shouldn't be too expensive, well under $100."
