For recipes? I'd say Vegetarian Times.

You might want to check out our recipes section, http://www.vegweb.com, and http://www.veganmania.com.

Does an all vegan magazine even exist?

The Vegetarian Resource Croup puts out a magazine that has all vegan recipes. I think it's called Vegetarian Journal (?) It's an okay magazine. Even Veggie Life has been posting more honey/egg/dairy recipes lately, although they're usually pretty easy to convert to vegan.

Veg News rules, rules, rules, rules, rules, rules, etc. There is no better for vegans, IMHO.

I've been waiting for my sample copy of Veg News for six months. ;-;

I bought a VT subscription from my coworker's daughter's school fundraiser, and there have been some good recipes that are easy to veganize, but it's definitely geared towards the health veg lacto-ovo crowd.

If you're having trouble getting your vegnews, just call and ask for Colleen Holland. She's really nice and will help you out. There must be a number at their website.

I was thinking of getting a subscription to vegnews. Is it a decent magazine? How many pages is it? (I can't get a free copy, because I'm in Australia).

I liked the issue I got in June a lot. Is there a new one out now? The last one I got had a picture of bread on the cover, it was about low-carb dieting.

That was the last one. I haven't seen a new one yet, although they don't come out every month. I think it's quarterly.

I don't know of many...probably Vegetarian Times, even though some of them can be a little strange.

Veg News is my favorite, I just bought a three year subscription to them and recieved a canvas Tote bag and 6 cookies from the Alternative baking company. The Magazine is great, it's very informative and has some great articles. I used to get VT but I stopped because they dont tend to lean towards veganism. I found that magazine rather boring. Their is another one called veggie journal that I like alot and it tends to have a lot of vegan recipies in it.

VegNews rules! I got mine on Wednesday. That means I have to wait another 2 months for my next one :cry: I wish it was a monthly magazine. Also, Herbivore is pretty cool but I don't remember if they have recipes. And I just subscribed to Satya but I haven't received the first one yet so I don't know if it has recipes or not.

This may be a little off-topic, but there is a really cool magazine out now called Herbivore. They are out of Washington state and they do a really good job covering vegan interests. Its not about cooking, though. They wanted to do something that no other mag out there was doing, covering bands that rock and people that come from a vegan background. It is a sweet mag. Okay, I am done.

I enjoy Herbivore. It's a great Vegan social/political magazine, but they don't do recipes. For recipes and veg-geared general interest, I really like Veg News. I just picked up my first copy at the newsstand a couple of days ago, and I loved it.

As for Vegetarian Times, I gave up on them after they published a vegetarian version of the South Beach Diet. Vegetarian Times no longer even really caters to vegetarians, and they never really cover substanitive vegetarian issues anymore (they don't seem to want to offend their health-conscious omni customer base). Also, the only Vegan section they have is "Vegan Gourmet," which is generally made up of fairly difficult recipes that require odd (and often expensive) ingredients and then the finished product doesn't taste good enough to justify the effort. And I am a very good (former professional) cook. I've seen more than one issue of VT where there wasn't a single Vegan recipe in the quick recipe section. To me, this implied an attitude that one can't make a quick and easy Vegan meal.

I love Herbivore. They're out of Portland Oregon however, not Washington. =)

Yeah, VT is always pretty ovo-lacto oriented, although they do mark the vegan recipes. Still, not worth getting a subscription to. I got the issue of Vegnews focusing on low-carb diets. It was so exciting to read a whole issue mostly devoted to how stupid low-carb diets are. Like a breath of fresh air. I liked reading those profiles of the super-healthy vegan people of all ages who were living the "high-carb" lifestyle. I used an adapted version of one of their recipes--a marinade that I used on grilled tempeh and veggies. Mmmm... My omni bf loved it.
