my mom has been having dizzy spell so went to doc. to get a c.t. scan. She has white patches on her brain and it could lead to dementia. she has really high cholestrol and is on meds. I have read that high cholestrol can block blood vessels in the brain. I told her to go vegan to lower her high cholestrol but she told me that would be too drastic. The Doc. is going to do more tests and try different meds. i wish she would try a vegan diet I know it would help.:wall: she won't listen to me.

Wow. That's really scary.
It's also frustrating that she feels like taking dangerous pills is less drastic than cutting animal products out of her diet. I would get her Dr. Dean Ornish's books. He has done reasearch proving that a vegan diet can reverse cholestrol levels and cardiovascular disease. Try doing a search for him, or Dr. Mcdougall
and also have her look at this stuff at the physicians committee for responsible medicine http://www.pcrm.org/

Good luck!

well, veganism isn't the only way. she might like dean ornish's research. his is an lacto-ovo vegetarian diet. Also, she may want to look into the cholesterol-related information on Weston A. Price: westonaprice.org. they use whole foods (meat included) to lower cholesterol. exercise is another big factor.

i hope this helps!
