Hi!
I thought Stella was 100% cruelty-free but it looks like after further research (looking online at her clothes) that she uses silk, wool, leather, cashmere, etc. Is she only anti-fur and still considered cruelty-free? It doesn't seem fair (at all) for her to be praised for being cruelty-free yet not be. Please set me straight if anyone knows something I don't.

Could you link that info on her clothes, for starters?

Sure. Here are a pair of her wool pants: http://www.yoox.com/ing/item.asp?codice8=36007436; and a silk dress: http://www.yoox.com/ing/item.asp?codice8=34003558; a silk skirt: http://www.yoox.com/ing/item.asp?codice8=35011087; a CNN article about her line with cashmere sweaters: http://www.cnn.com/STYLE/9808/19/chloe/
I may have been wrong about her using leather. Looks like she's anti-fur and leather which is good, but it doesn't make sense to me that she is considered cruelty-free.

I believe the wool she uses is considered 'pure wool' as it's not commercialized so to speak. I remember reading about it somewhere - I know she has a 200ish acre sheep farm (NOT for slaughter) and she may get the wool from there.
I've actually been wondering about her perfume. I LOVE the scent, and I can't imagine that she'd condone animal testing for it. But does anyone know for sure?
I'm not sure about the leather though as I've heard that she won't even sit on leather seats.

Hmm . . . here's something by the Fur Commissision . . .http://www.furcommission.com/resource/perspect999ae.htm . . . but of course it would be biased, so . . .

I remember hearing about the silk before. The wool is all news to me. I can see her stance on leather and fur, as you have to kill a fairly sentient mammal in order to provide those materials, while wool can be quasi-humanely produced without harming the animal. Sure beats the leather pants off most designers...

Wow, this could be really cool. I'm guessing the whole line will be made without leather, like all of her shoes are:

As I understand it Stella McCartney isn't a vegan she is a vegetarian. Her clothes and shoes are considered suitable for vegetarians.

That would be consistent with Paul and Linda's stances on veg*nism, I suppose.
