Do your parents support your vegetarianism [ sp, sorry! ] or you being vegan? Like were they 'shocked' to find out that you were vegetarian or vegan? Did they try and talk you out of it? Those sorts of things.

Me mum fully supported my being vegetarian, and wanted me to go vegan. Now she's thinking about going vegan aswell.....

[ She was vegan for 15 years, and had a vegan bakery when I was younger. ]

My parents weren't very shocked. My sister was one before me, so they weren't very surprised. Me and my sister are very much alike. Exspecially in our views on the treatment of animals. They just didn't think I had the will power to do it! I proved them wrong ... !

The rest of my family seamed to be 'mad'. They said I couldn't make it, and it was just a phase. They tryed to tempt me. Only me mum knew I could do it. And I have.

After I got really sick from something beyond my control, and some allergies that my mom thought was just sickness, she asked me to eat chicken. But I kept refusing. :D

Psh.. I have been sick less often than when I was omni.

when i lived with my parents, they were not very supportive. my dad, especially, tried to make jokes. and every holiday when i had to actually sit down with them, they would all talk about how i used to eat meat. i did almost all of my food shopping and preparation, because otherwise there wasn't much i could eat.

The rest of my immediate family are also veggie (my brother's also vegan, like me..but not my parents). I don't think they thought I'd last when I decided to go from veggie to vegan, but I did. My grandma doesn't like it at all, though. She'll try to tempt my dad (who would be the most-likely to cave) and make comments that I'm not getting enough nutrition. If only she knew what's in the stuff she's eating...:(

I have gotten sick, but because of dariy, thats why I'm going vegan. Or am now....... whatever.

At holidays my family makes jokes and trys to tempt me aswell. I hate it. Its like I'm 'ok' ( not really, but I can't piss my family off anymore ) with them eating meat ( disgusted, really. ), so why can't they respect my not eating animal flesh?

I think i'm fairly lucky, my parents have never been against me being vegan. I never actually came out and said "hey i'm now a vegetarian" I just stopped eating meat and after a week my parents kind of just went with it, then about 2 weeks after i'd stopped eating meat i told my mum i was going to stop consuming milk, her response was " well you'll have to drink soy milk like your sister does" i said fine and that was it. Transitioning to being totally vegan was just natural progression, i gradually cut back on eggs and experimented with vegan dishes until one day i decided that yes i was in-fact vegan.

Now both my parents are used to it, my mum is totally supportive, almost annoyingly so, happily explaining that her daughters vegan to anyone who asks or even when they don't ask. She gets as excited as me when we find a new vegan product, when i discovered that soy milk was making me sick she happilly switched to buying rice milk, and will sometimes go out of her way to get me different non soy milks, she'll eat vegan food and happily use vegan butter and dairy free milks when she's cooking for the whole family so i can eat it if i want to, my dad will check menu's when we eat out so there's something i can eat, even my mums friend is good about my choice to be vegan and has become one of my favorite vegan cooks, she even made her daughters birthday cake vegan so I could eat it, she'll cook me vegan meals if we stay there to eat, and several times when she's seen new vegan items i don't know about she'll get them for me to try.

So actually thinking about it i have a very supportive family, though neither of my parents is veg*n and i doubt they ever will be, they have been really good about my choice, even if sometimes they do moan about it.

My parents don't support my decisions, they tell me its "just a phase" and that they hope I'll get over it. I most of the time have to buy my own food because "if you dont eat what the rest of the family eats, then you should buy it yourself because we're not going to waste our money on things we arent going to eat."

My little sister supports my decision though. :-) And she even tries some of the foods I make even though she's omni.

But after this year I'm off to college so I won't really have to deal with my parents anymore...except for when I come home on breaks...so that'll be a good thing hopefully.

My dad doesn't like it that I'm veggie, he is constantly telling me that i am to yougng, and my body needs the nutrition in meat. Mom is getting used to it, although she is constantly nagging me about nutrition she thinks every time I get tiered its because of bad nutrition, my brother, forget it, he is always picking on me for being a veggie.

Mine are all right.

I've always been a strange, picky eater (from when I was a toddler to 16, I didn't eat a single fruit or vegetable - still have trouble eating them now), and underweight since I was born... So my mom was extremely concerned when I decided to go cold turkey, especially with my ED history. I gave her some things to read though, and helped her do some research, and she became supportive, so supportive that she practically bought every vegan item in the store for me. Tofu, Gardenburgers, and seitan galore. Some of which, as it goes, I ended up not liking - which pissed her off :-/

She fluctuates between expressing her concern and saying that she thinks i'm taking this "way too far", to asking if I want her to pick up some more Soy Delicious while she's out, and making sure to cook her hamburgers in a separate pan from my food. So I can't really complain.

My dad will poke fun at me and thinks i'm using it as an excuse to continue my eating disorder. He's convinced it's the unhealthiest thing in the world. He's not someone who is easy to reason with or even willing, so it's not worth the effort to try and explain to him why it's so much better for yourself, and for the environment (he could give a sh-t about the animals). Fortunately I don't have to see him much.

i was (still am)a picky eater, extremely picky...It was more of the cooked veggies, meat, and cheeses though that I was picky about...

I was a picky eater as a kid... I went through a phase where I only ate white, orange and yellow foods:-/ My friends dad told me I wasn't a vegetarian, I was a pick-a-tarian. Haha:rolleyes:

Now I'm eating more things... Like Indian food :lick: and TVP and tofu dishes, and I cook for my family too, so they don't mind really.

Dad was a bit upset when I became vegan, since he likes cooking with cheese.
I told him he could still cook, I just won't eat it.
My mom wants to be a vegan too, but she has no willpower when it comes to food.

I haven't been sick for, like , a year. Probably because I take supplements in case I don't get enough nutrition.( BTW takeŽB Complex supplements when dieting, and don't forget iodine, and light, magnesium, zinc, and calcium! Also drink alot of green tea. ^^'' there, the lists done now.)

My dad teases me alot, but he's usually kidding ( why else would he pick out dietry supplements targeted at vegetarians.- for me! of coarse!^^)
Well my parents aren't really 'meat eaters' they eat it every now and then, but never waste it (they mostly eat organic and biodynamic,-or directly from the butcher). My dad's vary fem-ish and humane,he loves animals. While my mom owns horses and loves animals too ( she supports things like 'greenpeace' and ' WWF').

Guess I'm vary lucky. :)
