Idea! [gelatin in marshmallows]

I've been really sick lately, and i've had time to think ... too much. I was just thinking about marshmallows. I know that they out gelatin or something in it. And I think that gelatin has like cow bone in it. I don't eat either. But I think I know why they put gelatin in marshmallows. If you have ever eaten a marshmallow you would realize that its kind bouncy, and so is gelatin. So maybe the gelatin stuff makes it that way. I don't know, I am just guessing. What do you think?

yea I thought it was good logic myself .... i've never been a big fan of marshmallows, they just taste *blah*, but before I became a veg, whenever I ate one, they just seemed kinda bouncy! I guess its just me!

You could make your own gelatin to put in marshmallows by saving your toenail clippings and then boiling them down. :D

It's not THAT gross, i'd rather eat my own toenails than some cows, and it's not like you taste it in the end product. Hm....how exactly do those sites make their vegan marshmallows again?

I'd rather eat my toenails than a cow's b/c the cow is dead then. I always thought that gelatin is what made marshmellows that way so I agree with your logic

I think they use agar-agar, a sea-vegetable derivative that basically has the same effect as gelatin :think:

My dad said marshmallows were originally made using the marshmallow plant and required no gelatin. So I guess companies just got cheap and fake.

It's not just cow bones in gelatin, it's all of the waste products from a slaughter house, this is also in glue.
