View Full Version : I'm very sad . . .

I found a dog about a month ago and I've been trying to find the little guy a home. He's a nipper, so I've just been sending out mass emails. I thought because he's little it would be easy to place him. I'm not sure if he's a nipper all the time or if he's just scared. Anyway, I couldn't take him home as I have a houseful so I've had him boarded at my vets. I got him fixed, got all his shots, etc. I've contacted a number of rescues to see if they could take him, obviously they all have their hands full as well. I called up my vets and the total bill is $650 - even with the rescue break. I did find another boarding facility/rescue that will take him for $8/night, but I will have to give them my credit card. I don't know what to do. I can't pay for this indefinately and I'm sad that he has to be in a kennel every night and not a home:(

I posted this in the women's forum instead of the support forum coz I kind of needed female support, I'm not sure why . . .

What's wrong with male support?

I have a similar(ich) problem. I rent a place and they will be selling it soon. Asides from the point I will have nowhere to live. There is an outdoor cat that lives here too. It is very hard to get near to it- they wont be able to take the cat to their new place. I don't as yet know where I am going. I asked what they thought they would do with it and they talked about taking it to the rescue centre. I am not sure if they meant to put down, either way it isn't very rehomeable as it isn't tame. Hope you find somewhere,

Absolutely nothing wrong with male support. I just didn't feel like it at the time I posted . . .I don't know.

Kat, have you been able to take the cat to the vets to see if at least he/she is fixed?

No- but I guess I could ask my landlord- it is his cat. I think it used to be an indoor cat and then a relative with a dog came and stayed and now it's outdoors. It's really sad as the few times I have managed to stroke it, it seemed to enjoy it. But I can hardly ever get close enough. You have to slowly build up it's trust of you, I slowly got to that point. I had a good "cuddle" with it. And then some of the landlords family came for a couple of weeks- and I haven't touched it since. I may ask around- the house isn't on the market yet so there is time,

Why don't your put an ad in your local papers?

I should try that.

I was going to suggest that too Alphie, or even take a picture and make a little poster for lampposts or the local Y or community centre?

It must be so upsetting to put in all this effort to save the little guy and come up against so many frustrations, but hopefully something will come up soon. Keep on trucking!

Yeah . . . I feel better already:) I'll put an ad in the paper (already did one in Craigslist) And at least I won't be alone - the rescue will try placing him too, it's just that $8/night as I can't go on doing that for months and months.

Do you think they would do you a deal- with the circumstances in mind. I just got the cat to come inside briefly- as I put it's dinner in the kitchen doorway. Small steps,

You can list him on petfinder.com

What about asking your vet to put up his pic in their office?

He's on Petfinder - here if you'd like to see: http://www.petfinder.com/pet.cgi?action=2&pet=3269501&adTarget=468doggeneral&SessionID=412fa9ed423e9db1-app5&display=&preview=0&row=150&tmpl=&stat=

and I've got a poster up at my vets office.
