I thought about starting something like this a while ago. But was too lazy. Anyone I just read something in another thread- which got me into thinking of starting it. Basically the idea of this thread is to help give people ideas of exercise that don't cost anything to do and you can do anywhere. They shouldn't need any specialist equipment. Think of using tins of beans as weights! A lot of people I know don't have the time, money or motivation to go to the gym. Or they don't feel like jogging everyday, or feel to unift to start working out in the public eye.
Hopefully this thread will get some people motivated to start exercising. And give others new exercise ideas and even save you a few pennies!
A few ideas to start off:
Running up and down the stairs
Dancing to music
Stretching
Kicking a ball about
Weight training with canned foods!!!

Here's some to add:
* Do leg lifts or squats while you brush your teeth.
* Squeeze your booty when you are stuck in traffic or sitting at the computer.
* Fit in some crunches, pull-ups, lifts during a commercial break.
* Always take the stairs.
* Run errands on foot or bicycle.
* Stand up straight! Who cares if you're not perfect? You'll look taller and more confident! :D

Snarky comment #1 (pirate): Arrr, how can I squeeze me booty while stuck in traffic when it be burried under 2 fathoms of sand. Arrr!
Snarky comment #2 (letch): Does squeezing my someone else's booty count?

Under sand? Hmmm. Thats not exactly the type of booty I had in mind. Unburying that booty would be quite the work-out, though.
I'd say squeezing someone else's booty (under my definition of the word) would only count if you did it enough to gain strength in your hand. I'd guess dodging angry recipiants would also count.

Okay I'm squeezing I'm squeezing. Clench those buttocks.
I was going to say about squeezing your bum at the bus stop. Then I thought someone would take it the wrong way. And then it reminded me of a few nights out I've had- so I thought better not

Anyone feel jelly and 'soft' even if a lower weight/ or 'underweight'? I swear, I wouldn't care if the scale stayed the same if I had more toned muscles and was IN SHAPE. But I feel so gross and out of shape. A lot of it is fluid retention. Lately my allergies have been super bad and my tummy/ wrists/ legs swell....when the swelling goes down, I feel okay. But when I'm 'puffy' I feel horrifically bad.
Ideas to help keep it under control?

I do jumping jacks while watching TV! Usually I do 50 during each commercial break. And if I get tired of that I march around the room during commercials.

My tummy almost always feels puffy, especially after I've eaten. I'm trying out a digestion pill that's supposed to help break down beans, soy and pasta more effectively. So far, I haven't noticed too much of a difference. :tired:

A really effective workout that I have stuck to for the last year or so is to go for a good brisk walk daily and do some pilates or weights about 5X a week. I can't say enough about resistance training to firm up those wobbly bits. And I am one of those (well technically) "underweight" people, who still feel like they have a bit of excess flab and not enough muscle underneath. Out on your walk throw in some dips or push ups if there are suitable rails to mix it up. Pilates really does wonders if you stick to it, and you can teach yourself out of a book if you use your common sense. It's so relaxing to get outdoors each day and is worth it for the stress release alone.

oh, here's what I do:
When you are using the microwave, and it has 1:00 left, and your sweating, and so anxious, just walk back and forth around the kitchen until its done.

i love having a gym twenty feet away from my front door... but I have taken two days off as I have had a raging migraine. I must agree that exercise balls are where it's at.

I'm seeing this a bit late, but what if I have no booty, literally, I have no butt :help:

Use your cat as a free weight*.
*Disclamer: Not all cats can be used as a weight. Only use willing, calm kitties for this practice. Any injuries incurred attempting this are the sole responsiblity of the cat person in question.

do you keigals. do them anywhere, do them everywhere.
to learnwhere the muscle is (pelvic floor), while peeing, stop the flow. that's the muscle.
now, squeeze that and your booty.
