52. I bike/exercise on the elliptical for 45 minutes at least four times a week. :)

Mine's been exactly 60 resting for the last 10 years. I just measured it again and it was 60, I thought it would be higher but no! I havent been working out much lately other than some sport or other 3x/week, I think I just have a fairly slow metabolism in general. The lowest I've ever seen it is 48, and the highest (when I was busting my ass at the gym) was something like 170 according to the machine (sounds really high, it's basically as high as I could get it without having a heart attack) I figure a range is good for it, keeps it on its toes. I could be wrong

My normal resting rate is in the low 60s.
Is it normal for an illness to increase your RHR? Last year, I had a horrible roto-virus and my resting heart rate was at least double the usual.
Edit: Just read above post. Does pulse actually effect your metabolism? I have a very high metabolism, but I don't consider my RHR to be high.
