We search high and low for them but can't seem to find them anywhere.
My question--Have the Morningstar Chik'n and Chili Pot Pies been discontinued?

not in my area. I see them all the time at super Target.

No, they haven't, but I can tell you why you don't see them anymore. It happened around here, too. I work at a grocery warehouse & inquired about why they weren't around anymore. I guess that the company that makes them has changed their ordering policies so that when a warehouse orders them that they're required to order an entire pallet of them. Before, they were able to order just one or two cases, if they wanted. Now, being required to order a minimum amount made a lot of the smaller places stop carrying them since they couldn't move out that larger amount before their days fresh ran out.

Personally, I think that it's a very stupid move on their part. I don't see how they couldn't have lost business from quite a few grocery distributors. You might want to ask your local store if they can special order a case for you. If the warehouse they order from still stocks them, that shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks, I was wondering about those. I tried the chili pot pie and loved it but when I went back to the grocery store it was gone.

Doesn't that suck? I used to buy the chili pot pies all the time to bring to work & miss them so much. :(

A lot of the more obscure items aren't always distributed very well. If you want something your store doesn't have the best thing to do is ask the manager to stock it.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad to hear they aren't discontinued, but sad I probably won't get them any time soon.

I don't believe companies can make stores carry their products. Like I said I think it would be more effective to ask the store manager to carry the product. Having worked in a phone center (that just so happened to also take Kellogg's calls) I'm pretty sure that's what they're going to tell you too.

I don't think it can hurt and if they are the ones who decided to only sell in huge batches, they might re-think the decision. Maybe that is a distributor who made the decision though...

I still don't think it hurts to be heard.

Now working in a grocery store I can say.... The managers don't necessarily care. :) You can try, but nine times out of ten we nod and say, "oh we'll try to get that one." But... there are probably reasons why they don't carry it. You'd be best to try and work with the buyer to special order something... Maybe promise to get a certain amount of something, like, I'll buy three cases, or five items, or whatever... if they order it. So they're guaranteed a sale.

Well, when I go to the HFS I usually offer to buy a case or half case of whatever it is that I'm wanting because I know they have a harder time moving things.

But... If you call the company they're going to tell you to ask the store to carry it. Whether or not they do, or even give it a second thought, that I don't really know.
