Wow. I tried Tofutti Sour Supreme with my burritos last night and was amazed at how great it was. My veggie husband didn't even know it was veg. I'm always scared to try veggie dairy products because of bad veggie cheese experiences in the past, but I definitely will buy this again!

i'll 2nd that. I went over a year w/ no sour cream (when i went vegan) and i don't usually try the "dairy replacements" (soy milk is about the only thing.. i can't stand any fake cheese i've tried so far), but i kept seein it around, so figured i'd try it out. and ya, its excellent. you know those chip dips? if you can find a powder mix that's vegan, mix it in w/ the sour cream and let it sit a bit... makes excellent chip dip as well.

I don't care for many of the Tofutti produts, but I love the Sour Supreme with every fiber of my being! :smitten: My baked potatoes, burritos, and perogies are much better with them.

i love this stuff!
and as for chip dips, i eat the guacamole flavor as a dip by itself (especially with veggie crisps, mmm), no mixes needed.

poor you :( most of the stores that carry the original around here carry the guac flavor too. actually it doesn't taste anything like guacamole, but it does taste delicious. :)

i don't know if this pertains to you (not sure of your location) but I live in denver, co, and the big whole foods here told me this. I actually discovered this stuff at whole foods, and picked it up there like twice, and then it dissapeared. after a little while i asked about it, and was told they were changing their distributor (or something like that) so certain products (LIKE the tofutti sour supreme) would not be available anymore. She then went on to say that they would be working w/ the new distributor to try to get some of these things back, so hopefully they would start carrying it again. Now, this was about a year ago, and i still haven't seen it show up at whole foods.

i got some once a few years ago intending to try to make onion dip with it, but the texture was terrible and i ended up throwing it away. it was a gelatinous blob, not creamy at all.
has it changed or something?

Did you stir it up really well before using it? I find it can be stiff just after opening, but when you stir it really well it solves that problem.
I love the stuff myself. My omni husband likes it a lot too, so that's what we buy when we need "sour cream". I typically use it as a potato topping or a burrito/taco topping, but it works well for dips and in recipes that call for sour cream.

The one time I tried the Sour Supreme, it was really grainy. Did I just get a bad package?

I made a seven layer dip, which only had four layers (vegan cheese, sc supreme, refried vegan beans and vegan ground beef) and my brother who does eat dead animals LOVED it. He finished it in one sitting . . . when I was planning to save it for later that day to watch movies and munch on, but that's another story.

love it too... just bought some today for burritos! i don't like any casein-free cheeses but the tofutti sour supreme and better than cream cheese are both really good to me!

Sounds like it! The stuff shouldn't be grainy in texture at all. mmmmmmmmmm, sour supreme.... I do like their better than cream cheese too... even though it's hydrogenated :sealed:

i like it, but only in other things (buried in 7 layer dip, mixed into carrot ginger soup, or used as a base for onion dip) it's a little bland when it's front and center.

It's bland, but I still adore it. Especially just as a plain dip with pretzels...it's so addicting. :hump:

I love the stuff for mexican or what ever. I'm the only "veggie person" in the state it feels like & my family tore the sour cream up & never realized it was non dairy till my sister laughed & held up the container. She knew but tried it anyway, we are all suckers for the stuff. No one said anything or made a complaint. :vebo: Makes a great dip (they ate that too hehehe). One bean buritto at a time, I'll convert someone yet!!
