School is starting soon for this state and many others. very soon. August 23rd.

Post anything in this thread about concerns with the coming school year and being vegetarian/vegan.

School lunch ideas, how to search out vegan items in your cafeteria, quick snacks, etc etc.

September 8th for me :D Our school is poor, so we have fewer days this year, but they're longer.

We also start Sept. 8. We've got less break this year (no spring breaks :() because of construction planned for no summer so we can end the school year sooner. I'm kind of pissed.

Anyhay, I'm just afraid I'll get lost, our high school is huge.

school starts sept....um...3? 2? i dont know. I'm going to be a senior. ahhh. the easy life. I'm not signed up for any honors classes and i'll be really busy with dance and drama. but yeah. school :brood: glad this is almost over(ish)

i guess ill just wake up one of these days and realize i should have gone to school...
..overall..im not too worried about dietary concerns regarding my school..its very small..only 100 students average...and we have no cafeteria or school lunches, so everyone goes and buys their own or brings one in. theres also 2 grocery stores half a mile up the street...
..i am very uncomfortable eating around people tho..which means ill most likely start restricting again or just not eating until i can be alone...
done so well this summer just eatin what i want when i want..afraid the school year will set me back so ill have to start all over..

Sorry, should have explained - it is an American thing. It's a scholarship program thing, based on poise, talent, academics, and physical fitness. It works a bit like a pageant. Here (http://www.ajm.org) is the site, it's a bit weird to explain. I know I won't win, but I'm doing it just to do it. I just can't figure out what to do for the talent portion :p

sophomore year starts on the sept. 3rd. i've packed lunches for the past years, but does anyone have ideas for sandwiches? i'm kinda lazy and need simple stuff. i'm trying to explore the many uses of tofu between two pieces of wheat bread lol

My school starts on August 19th. It will be my first semester in college and I am super excited because they are uber-progressive and they have both a vegetarian and a vegan section in their cafeteria, so lots of edible food for me, unlike in high school.

Eww! Starting school in early August? My gosh, I hope it is air conditioned!

As far as food goes.. I really don't know what I will eat. Last year, I was still Ovo-Lacto, and I had pizza every day. I didn't go Vegan until nearly the end of the year. ( May or so?) and rarley ate lunch.
THen, I lost a lot of weight, and it was bad.
But, in short.. I have no idea what to eat that does not lack nutrition. ^_^

school starts for me on the 16th of this month. i'm not looking forward to it at all. there is nothing vegan at my school except for french fries, and i'm working on being raw at the moment, so i'm just planning on bringing a nice big salad and some fruit for lunch most of the time.

The first day of school always makes me nervous. Any other days are fine but the first freaks me out. I also always feel like I'll be excited to see people that won't be excited to see me.
