I found a new love.... Her name is carrot juice! Now that I've figured that out, I've also figured out the stuff ain't too cheap. The little Odwalla bottle is like US$2.49 and is one Froggy serving (2 servings per container). Not surprisingly, Odwalla's juice tastes fabulous.
I went to Keva Juice and paid $2.00 for a 12 oz juice. That juice tastes more like what I would expect if I bought a juicer and some carrots from the grocery store and made my own.
My question is, is there such thing as jugs of carrot juice for cheap (I'd pay $5 for a half gallon) or are the laws of supply and demand firmly intact? Should I just grit my teeth and hand over the $8.50 for the Odwalla half-gallon jug? Would drinking this much beta carotene turn me into a yellow veggie (2400% RDA)?

when i'd been eating a pound of carrots almost everyday, the bottoms of my feet, and also somewhat the skin on my hands, got pretty yellow. this was several years ago and they seem better now, but they did stay extra yellowish for a seemingly very long time.

Interesting.... Yeah, I was reading about how excess beta carotene is stored in your fat, and can make your skin appear yellowish. I guess it's true. Appropriate avatar btw. ;)

same thing with me. i eat tons of carrots and my palms and feet pads are yellowy/orange. it freaks my mom out. i know there is a brand of carrot juice at my store that is cheaper than the odwalla: i'll check it out for you tonight, since i have to stop by there. i didn't like it tho when i tried it (but i think this would be true for all carrot juices)-- it was TOO carroty. like carrot to the 10th power.

my stepfather was vegan in Ukraine, and you won't find anything vegan in ukraine at all
one time he was at a party with nothing dairy and meat free AT ALL, so the hostess made him a "salad" - 3-4 pounds of grated carrots with some spices
after that he was yellow for like 2 days, not just his palms and feet but all his body and even eyes :D
btw he's the only vegan i know who chose the lifestyle for health reasons (now he's vegetarian)
froggy i love carrot juice ! i haven't admited it to anyone yet but i love that stuff.... plz let me know if you find it for cheap :)

If you really like carrot juice, I would invest in a juicer. Some of them are not that expensive. Also, you would benefit from having the juice fresh instead of from a bottle.

I always buy carrot juice from Trader Joes, its just under 4 bucks for a half gallon. I'd love to try the Jack Lalanne juicer with carrots, thats my next big purchase :)

 I juice my own carrots in the AM sometimes. A million times better than bottled.

I love carrot juice too. I get it fresh squeezed at my fav veggie hangouts for like 2.00 usd a glass. I like the bottled 24carrot juice also. i think After the Fall makes it.
