does anyone here use Nature's gate hair care? How does it stack up compared to other brands you have tried? I am thinking of trying them next time I need shampoo (right now am using Mane & Tail)
thanks

I like the rainwater herbal shampoo. It's gentle, and smells like insense.

I'll have to try that. I have some Jason rainwater.

I love this kind, too. Very nice.
Make sure to read what's in it before buying, though. Some of Nature's Gates shampoo & conditioner aren't vegan.

I don't use it, because I believe it has DEA in it. I try to avoid all products with DEA since most shampoos have been reformulated and don't use it (it was proven to cause cancer).

Wow, I didn't know about that. Thanks for the info!

I didn't like Nature's Gate. It weighed my hair down. I don't remember what kind I got, but this was months ago.
I like Tom's of Maine baby shampoo.

What makes you think it has DEA in it? Would they list it in the ingredient's list? How can we find out for sure?
I use the Rainwater Herbal Awapuhi Shampoo & Conditioner. I really like the shampoo. The conditioner is a bit watery, but seems to work to keep the tangles away. Their Colloidal Oatmeal is excellent for dry, cracky skin.

I think it's the Awapuhi conditioner that has silk amino acids in it, isn't it?

I checked the ingredient list on the original herbal shampoo and conditioner. It didn't say DEA on it, would it be under another name?

Here's an ingredient list from their aloe vera shampoo:
Aloe Vera Treatment Shampoo Ingredients: Water Extract of Barley, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Cocamide Dea, Aloe Vera Gel, Panthenol, Keratin Amino Acids, Cysteine, Citric Acid, Extract of:, Nettle, Yeast, Coffee & Wild Pansy, Tocopherol (vitamin e), Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Sesame Oil, Retinyl Palmitate (vitamin a), Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3), Fragrance Oils, Diazolidinyl Urea, Disodium Edta-Copper, Sodium Chloride.
From the Herbal shampoo:
Water extracts of nettles, sage, chamomile, kusambi bark, lavender, yarrow, rosemary, wild cherry bark and thyme, sodium laureth sulfate, cocamidopropyl betaine, cocamide DEA, citric acid, methyl & propyl parabens, chlorophyllin, fragrance oils.
Maybe those lists are outdated, but I was going to order it through vitaminshoppe with a coupon I had, and didn't because of it. I also remember thinking about buying it at my local HFS, but didn't when I saw DEA in the ingredients.

I liked the Original Herbal one but I couldn't stand the smell. It was like cat shampoo or something. I was using the Awapuhi ones but it dried my hair out. So the other day I bought Avalon Organics Tea Tree and Mint and I like it a lot. Plus I recognize all the ingredients on the bottle.

Yep! According to their website, DEA is also listed in the stuff I use. Thanks for pointing that out!

It's both the shampoo and the conditioner! I guess their statement of No Animal Byproducts and a little bunny "no animal testing" sign on their bottle is misleading. Hohum.

Yes, I can't stand that when companies mislead the consumers. That's why we have to check the ingredients on EVERYTHING.

Hmm. According to the bottles of goo I have at home, DEA is not listed in the ingredients. I think maybe they have also decided to stop including it in their products, and haven't updated their product info on the net yet.

I just got the original herbal kind, which i really, though yes, the smell is a little odd. I do like how it isn't perfumey. my parents have another one (to lazy to go check, but I think the shampoo is red) and my mom mentioned liking it.

i forget which one i tried, but i was using one of the nature's gate shampoos for a while and i found it weighed my hair down, made it get greasier faster, didn't rinse out very well and didn't lather or clean all that well to begin with.
i had similar experiences with Jason shampoos and conditioners.

The aloe treatment shampoo and conditioner are the only way I can get fingers or a comb through my hair. I've used other varieties but I always come back to the aloe. Plus I *love* the smell.
Back in the day I used Herbal Essences and now one whiff of that stuff makes me ill for it's overpowering scent.
