Has anybody ordered from them before?

I have only tried their vegan lasagna with added spinach. I thought it was excellent but the husband was not impressed. (He's unhappy I've given up dairy and won't be making my killer 5 cheese lasagna anymore.)

Anyhow, I did call their # 1-800-BEEF-NOT and requested their free catalog. (Their answering machine was kinda cute too:)They have so many items I'm having trouble narrowing down my decisions via the web. So much of it looks so delicious not to mention convient and at least half their stuff is clearly marked VEGAN. I'm really interested in their vegan cheescake.

So any suggestions on what I should order once I get my funds together? What have the rest of you tried?

Heres the website link:

I really like their powdered chicken style broth mix. I've given up all other pre-made stock mixes for it, but I haven't tried any of their other offerings.

They sell a lot of their stuff at the Mail-Order catalogue, too. www.healthy-eating.com

I haven't ordered anything, either, but I imagine it's a good option for the "meat substitute"-liking people. :D

I thought all of their stuff was vegan.

Never heard of them. Looks good though. I like their varieties of soy pasta, I need to buy some of that, but need to find it a little cheaper.

I'm definately a meat substiture kinda girl. I'm also interested in the vegan cheesecake, buttercups, fudgedonuts and stickybuns!!! That chicken and dumplings really has me drooling.

From what I can tell all of their stuff looks vegan but only some are clearly marked VEGAN. I emailed them, Ill post their reply.

I like their potatoe and bacon (not) soup mix. It is good by its self or makes a wonderful base for vegetable soup.

I just found their site yesterday and today ordered some hopefully yummy stuff. Most of mine was the healthy junk:

~ Peanut Butter Cups (but more like Beanit Butter Cups, lol)
~ Soy Fudge
~ Honey Mints
~ two of the cookie and muffin mixes

That should boost my isoflavone content, huh? Soon as I get enough funds together, I may be stocking the kitchen with more Soy related foods. As you can tell from my screen name, I am growing into a soy_nut, lol.

tearhsong, i tried their cheese not sauce and thought it was kind of gross. maybe i'm not doing it right. what do you use it for? and have you tried using soymilk or something instead of water?

i also really want to know about their other products! has anyone tried to chicken and dumplings or the alfredo sauce? and the pizza kit is intriguing but i'm afraid to buy it ;)

First I've heard of them. Their website wasn't inspiring, though... Then again, I've never ordered any vegan food online.

I tried the vegan alfredo sauce mix by Dixie Diner, and it was just awful :( I've also used the Not!Chicken nuggets, which are dehydrated and sold by the bag. They were okay. I won't buy them again, though.

I know I'm not tearhsong, but I think using Silk Soymilk would probably make it creamier than water. In fact, I'd never use water in place of it.

Also, there Beanit Butter, Creamy, tastes really good, like a Ritz Cracker. And I got the soy fudge, beanit butter cups, soy rocks, cookies, muffins and it all looks really easy to make. And I'm sure it is tasty too. Also, I got there Nutlettes Plus Cereal, but haven't tried it yet, b/c I have run out of soy milk.

All there stuff just looks so good. And I may order from them again, but just found out Kroger is carrying some really good alternatives, such as Terra Chips, Garden of Eatin' Chips, and Soy flour, etc. Well, I got to go, but best of luck with Dixie Diner stuff. Drools.

Just made the Dixie Diner Soy Fudge today, but my other family members said it wasn't sweet enough. Any tips to making it sweeter? I personally like it the way it is, but that is b/c I like dark chocolate. Would a little Splenda be good? I'd use reg. sugar, but it causes me more probs than the sub. That's how my body works anyway.

heres their email reply on this. although i didnt get the answers i wanted:

Hello Amy,

Thank you for your note. For complete ingredient and nutritional
information, click on the red NF symbol next to the product. Yes,
there are probably several products that are vegan, but not marked.

We do carry an organic version of the Nutlettes breakfast cereal.

Thanks again,
Dixie USA, Inc.

>Just got the cereal sample and cartalog today, thanks!
>I have also been checking out your website. I see many
>items clearly marked vegan. Others look vegan but are
>not marked indicating this. Can you please clarify
>this for me? Also I see you use NON-GMO soybeans but
>why not organic? Are any of your products organic?
>
>I'm very into fake meats by the way. I'm also looking
>for a tasty vegan cheese. All the ones I've tried
>are nasty, LOL! I'm really looking forward to
>trying the vegan cheesecake.
>
>Anyhow, I will probably be placing an order with you

the whole low carb thing is not a turn on for me either. but i do like how they are targeting those atkins type consumers.

im just so happy to find a retailer selling reasonably priced, healthy convience food that is clearly marked vegan. i swear ive been dreaming about the chicken and dumplings.

i love your signature line BTW epski!

I like to use it for grilled sandwiches and for pasta. I use water and a little margarine. It does get quite thick, but if you heat it on a low temp and stir it a lot it turns out fine. I haven't tried soymilk in it because I generally get a vanilla flavored soymilk and that would make it nasty. Next time I make some, I'll try it with plain soymilk and see how it goes.
