The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky has been my favorite book for a few years, and looks to continue to be so. It's just so great, I can't even explain it! Philosophical and psychological depth is a characteristictrait of Dostoyevsky's novels! A close second would be Crime and Punishment.

For classic fantasy appeal, I'll choose The Lord of the Rings for my third favorite, or Return of the King if I must get specify my favorite book from the series.

I can't pick just one either. I have a terrible habit of reading half a book and setting it down forever, so it seems to me that most books that I like are all of the ones I've ever finished. :p

I like books about the plight of the average person...

A Tale of Two Cities, The Grapes of Wrath, and The Jungle are all quite high on the list.

I really enjoyed 1984, which I recently read.

Then of course there's the Harry Potter series which is quite attention holding, and naturally, The Lord of the Rings, which is a completely perfect book. :smitten:

Wow, this thread is a year old!

Catch-22, plus everything by Kurt Vonnegut and Graham Greene, those top my list.

There are so, so many other things that I love. Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Solzhenitsin (sp!) come to mind....

I've read and love just about every Stephen King/Richard Bachman book. I especially liked IT, and Insomnia. But his some of his short storys have made me cry, or at least one that I can specifically remember. He's truely amazing, though I sometimes have to force myself to read the first 20 or so pages.

The Hobbit was a spectacular book.. I haven't been able to make myself finish Lord of the Rings. Ayn Rand the Fountainhead was really good too.

Miles and Me (a Miles Davis biography[?]) by Quincy Troupe was a great great book, but then again I'm addicted to Miles' music.
