She an intelligent child, and I allow her to make her own food decisions outside the house. I buy the groceries and cook here at home, so she's very familiar with good tasting meat-free meals.
She told me today she felt guilty about eating pepperoni on her pizza today at the daycare field trip. I took that as my invitation to discuss my choices with her moreso than we've done in the past. I took babysteps, asking her along the way, do you *really* want to know this? She said there's a teacher there that told her vegetarian means only not eating beef, and as gently as I could, I set my baby straight.
We ended the conversation with me reminding her to listen to what she knows in her heart, no matter what other people say or do, and she'll be happiest in the end. She's such a wonderfully compassionate kid anyway, that I really hope this was "the talk."
