i'm not terribly fond of bikram yoga for a number of reasons, but if you're looking for listings of places, try yogafinder.com, yoga.com, yogajournal.com, and yogaalliance.com for lists of yoga teachers and studios in your area. you're bound to find something.

if you want something that is a challenging "work out" look for classes labeled astanga, vinyasa, and power yoga too.

have you checked if they do a "first class free" or a once a month free class, or a donation class? there's a studio near me (ok, 25 minutes away), that has a donation class once a week that i tend to hit on a fairly regular basis. i cant bring myself to buy a card (because goodness knows i'm picky and i have a constantly changing schedule), and i can't bring myself to pay $15 for a class. i'm sorry, just can't do it. When i had my studio, i couldn't charge that much either!

they have a community class twice a week that's only $4 a class, but at the moment, I don't even have that... :(

that's a good price though. . .you'll have to stop spending your money on loose men. . .:)

or, become a loose man so someone can spend their money on you. :D

I do iyengar style yoga. I love it, I find I am far more in tune with my bodies needs [diet wise especially] and overall more accepting of my body which I think every girl [or human for that matter] wants! Plus it makes you pretty strong!

yoga! I don't do nearly enough, in fact ive only ever been to 2 classes (have a video but haven't used it much), but I try and stretch every day (I couldn't do dance this year, I need to get back into it. so now I'm always working on flexibility). today I went to yoga with my stepmother. It was a bikram yoga class--hot room--and was VERY difficult. It wasn't so much the bending that I couldnt do as it was holding my balance. even though I'm a dancer i have terrible balance (bad feet). I sweat BUCKETS and felt a bit sick/lightheaded towards the end, but maybe it was the heat getting to me...strange because I don't get hot easily and I'm always cold. However, even after all of that I still can say it was...exhilarating. I did enjoy it and regardless of how difficult it was it still felt good to do. I worked hard.
I'd really like to take yoga sometime in a room thats not a bajillion degrees.

Porvida- you really should give it a try in a normal studio. I think Bikram yoga can be really overwhelming if you are not used to hatha or ashtanga yoga in the first place.

I do really want to try the bikram stuff- but the studio is quite a drive from my house.
*sigh* someday.

I have an Ashtanga (spelling?) yoga video that I did a few times with good results. Although, I found doing a lot of the stretches difficult. Maybe next time I do it, I'll stretch out beforehand.

astanga and ashtanga are the same, two different spellings--both are considered correct.
