I have been buying Eden Soy regular flavor for a while now, and I think it's pretty close tasting to milk, but I want to know if there'e a soy milk that's better than the rest without carageenan. I know Sun Soy and Silk both have it. Any suggestions???

I really like Soy Dream, but I don't know if it has carageenan.

Whole Foods Markets' 365 Organic Vanilla, followed closely by Silk Vanilla.

vitasoy creamy original. i think a lot of people don't like vitasoy, but it's the easiest for me to drink plain. 365 and wildwood are better than most.

what is carageenan?

It's a substance used to thicken vegetable-based milks. Some people say that it causes upset stomach.

I found "carrageen" in the dictionary. I'm not sure if it's similar, but here's the definition: a purplish, edible red algae (Chondrus crispus) found on rocky shores of N Europe and North America; Irish moss: used in jellies, lotions, medicines, etc

Hands down, Silk's very vanilla. When I go shopping, I stock up on these and buy five half gallons and 2 Silk chocolate half gallons. I wish Silk would start making their spicy lattee variety in the half gallon containers because that one is superb too. Sorry for not being helpful in regards to the carageenan. Although sometimes I have gotten an upset stomache in the past when drinking some varieties of soymilk, I never get them from the very vanilla variety.

So Good is pretty good and it doesn't have any carrageenan from what I can see on the label. I dunno if they have it in your country though.

I go for Silk. We get it by the case at Costco, both vanilla and the little chocolate ones, which are great for putting in the freezer and taking to work, or drinking on long car rides (I can't eat in the car).

Yea, it's a thickening substance, but it's not good for you. If you go to www.notmilk.com the notmilkman posted stuff about it. They use it to clean something on planes!!! It's really bad for you. I can't think of exactly what it does to you off the top of my head, but the notmilk site has info on that and loads of other bad stuff like Casien (a milk protein). Casien is used to bind the furniture in your house (yes glue)!!! It also keeps a lot of beer labels attached to the bottles. Notmilk man comments on how hard it is to remove beer labels. It's really scary when you think about all the things we eat that should not be edible and we have no idea.

Another vote for Silk! I only tried this brand, but I see no reason to look any further (I love it :)). Especially, chocolate and very vanilla. I never been much of a milk person though, so I don't get it very often. I've only bought silk very vanilla once and I occasionally will get some chocolate silk (maybe 1 or 2x a month, if that).

I like silk original. Although I just tried Presidents choice soy beverage and its not bad.

A lot cheaper then silk also. I usually use it for cooking, never really drink it much.

I don't know if carageenan is good or bad for you, but it really makes my stomache hurt. I know Soy Dreams doesn't have it, and I like the flavor and consistency of it.

I never did like milk, so I never had a problem with soy. Silk is my favorite though.

I just got a coupon for .75cts off a 32oz. thing of Silk. I'll have to try it. Everyone says it tastes the most like milk of all the soymilks. I don't like that it has carageenan, but I don't drink it, I only use it in cereal and to cook with. I don't like Eden Soy in my cereal. It's just not cutting it. Thanx for all the replies!!!

silk doesn't taste at all like milk (no soymilk does). i think it's fine in cereal.

Silk Vanilla is what I use year-round, but when Silk Nog becomes available toward the end of the year, look out! I can consume vast quantities of that stuff! Holy yum! :lick: :lick: :lick:
