what's the deal with you teens who don't travel outside of this forum? In my current situation, i think you are better equipped to help, because the frrreaks in the veggie patch forum (i mean that lovingly of course) don't seem to care much, hah. maybe you won't either, ohhhhhhh well!
alrighty, out with it: my foot is broken. well, fractured, but people like to get all technical and say "a fracture is a break" so i must appease them. if you would like to know what foolishness i partook in to do this, ask me, i'll tell ya...i just don't want to reveal myself if nobody cares, teehee.
anyways, What books should i read in my time of immobility? What movies should i watch? what activities should i partake in? I'll need ample balance and awareness to operate crutches, so getting totally sh*tfaced is not an option, heh. Nor is playing Twister. Or dancing...oh gahhhhh i'm gonna cry. *mopemopemope* yeahyeah, in this case, i'd like some of your ideas/suggestions, so put your thinking caps on! (woooow i'm cool )

I am one of the freaks in the veggie patch. I'll admit it. Did you break your foot or something?

I've seen "donnie darko", i liiiiike it, it's INSANE. Frank freaks me out to no end so i really can't watch it all that often.
FB~ say it with me, "frrrrrrrrrreak!"
well see, i was on this roof with a couple of friends. And then we decided to get down from the roof. I happened to be the only one who didn't do this properly  shaaaaameshame.
see, jumping was alright, but i guess the whole landing deal didn't quite work out for me.
it's crazy 'cause adults are still sympathetic---they have this whole "kids will be kids" mentality. i felt really dumb about it but hey---you live, you learn. someday i'll make a movie

You have to read Outlander by Diana Gabaldon *obsessed*
ETA: It's about a woman who goes back in time to jacobite Scotland through a stone circle...well it's about more than that, but my brain doesn't want to work today. Sorry about your foot, that doesn't sound like fun. You could invent a new veg*n recipe.....talk 2 people over the internet......eating is always good.

"Life of Pi" by Yann Martell is good. It's not one of those corny happy-ending stories. It's about an Indian boy, the son a zookeeper, who practices Hinduism, Islam, and Christianity, all at once. Then his family decides to move to Canada for a better life, and, the boat they take sinks. No, it's not something cheesy like Gilligan's Island or something.

hmm watch
DAZED AND CONFUSED !!! oh i love that movie, i can watch it anytime
and SLACKERS, if you still haven't seen it, really fun movie to watch
try HUMAN TRAFFIC
that's all i can think about right now
if i had a broken foot i'd prolly buy all episodes of South Park (that are already out) and watch them all. and i'd watch Alice in Wonderland, and some Tom & Jerry
and i'd probably make something out of clay .... or draw .. or something
oh and cook !
well, get better :)

wow. i had (well, have) a third degree ankle sprain and avulsion fracture from jumping off my bunk bed. was on crutches for 8 weeks. (and i still managed to go to concerts- standing on one foot for 3 hours can be well worth it.)
don't let people tell you that you have to lie around just because you're hurt. i managed to crutch many a mile out of sheer determination and boredom, and it ended up being very good for my strength.
but it's true that reading is a good way to pass the seemingly endless hours, so i recommend The Other Boleyn Girl or anything by Philippa Gregory, as well as Dangerous Angels by Francesca Block. also watching every episode of Mony Python's Flying Circus will keep you in good spirits.

A really really good book is Lies and lying liars that tell them. Come on, just from the title you know its good. That or Special by Bella Bathurst. If you like Lord of the Flies you'll like this one.

I had a grade 3 sprain to my ankle too! Well, let's see, it's still not right, so, possibly something else added to the sprain. (After cortosone injections, it got a little better, gained probably like 10° of movement in it, that's just about it!)
Read Girl, Interrupted by Susana Casen<spelling?> it's tons better than the movie! Watch Backdraft (awesome movie, pretty dang good for an old one!) watch save the last dance, mona lisa smile, pearl harbor, 40 days and 40 nights <love that one hehe> eat some tofuitti ice cream or whatever you prefer... make vegan smores etc.
I can sympathise; crutches suck. Be glad you're not in school right now, treking through crowded halls with a backpack and crutches is not fun. I found that out... gave up half way through the day; the elevator was less than comforting even though it just went from the first floor to the 2nd, creapy and squeaked far too much for my comfort. I just held the crutches, gritted my teeth and walked on a soft cast'd foot. Now, over a year later, I'm paying the price.. still have very little rotation in my left ankle, it's stiff and still sore... hmm, perhaps following the doctor's orders will work next time something happens to me! : DUH! :

heh. i live on the third floor and there's no elevator. so that was a ton of fun on crutches.
basically treat yourself like a queen right now. it's the best way to keep your spirits up.

Also, I jsut thought of an activity you may be able to do: chin-ups! Really, they may help pump you up and make the crutches easier to use.
But I would definately recommend the book Sophie's World by Josten Gaarder. Brilliant book, really long though. If you haven't read these, Shakespeare's As you like it and Taming of the Shrew are both good.

secondchance, desolation angel ~ It's great to hear from people who know how i'm feeling about this! Thanks for the suggestions---I am hoping to go to a concert this summer, but I think i'll be borrowing a wheelchair of some sort...having all that blood go to my foot and seeing my toes turn purple kinda freaks me out. :) I am really thankful that i won't be having to go to school like this---it's pretty much the best time to get injured (if there were any) I'll be able to walk a couple weeks before school starts. I feel for you guys! stairs and hallways are no fun, even with two functioning legs! thanks for your support :)
I_sleep_on_bed~ the only salinger i've read is "cathcer in the rye" which as i hear is your favorite---it's one of my favorites as well. what other works of his would you reccommend? I've been told that catcher is his only novel...?
and what documentaries on socialism should i check out? oddly enough, i'm very interested in learning more about it and had vowed to read up on lots of theories and such this summer, even pre-accident...and don't worry about the spelling, i know what you're saying :)
Thanks for your suggestions cryingdyingrose and BrownieB! you guys are gonna keep me busy!

my personal favorite books are by Ayn Rand, The Fountainhead, simply for the story, and largely for the meaning is amazing to me. It independently got me through middle school. um..... Pi, an independent film is really brilliant. Donny Darko rocked my world. Um.... I read the Bourn Identity, by Robert Ludlum, and I thought it was really good, but it didn't ruin the movie for me. I'm trying to think of things in a wide range. The first half of "The Good Earth" by Pearl Buck was good. hmmm... probably no much help, but best of luck.
