View Full Version : Totally self-serving, feeling crummy, pity thread.
Had the afternoon off today. After going to see a flick with a friend, I spent 1 1/2 hours swimsuit shopping. Bad lighting, mismatched suits, price checks, freak-ass ugly suits in the "big girls" section.
Lay some love on me ladies. :) jk

I hate shopping for bathing suits. The only time I ever see one I want is when it's in a magazine, and then the "where to find" doesn't list the specific one that I want, or they only come in certain sizes, not including mine.
I feel your pain.
And what's with those boyshorts that are too short and too tight? They just look stupid.

Ugh. Swimsuit shopping. My best advice is to take someone who thinks you look great all the time, find some that fit, don't look (really - don't look) and have them judge. I have a very nice tank/skirt suit combo (in big girl sizes) that is quite flattering by using that method. :)
I made fried zucchini with dinner tonight and I think I made the whole family sick. So smile, you could be me! :D

Aww, that sucks. I hate shopping too. If you don't find a swimsuit you like, you could always just go to a clothing optional beach instead :boobies:
Ahh, I've been wanting a reason to use that smiley!

<<< will have to work up to that!
rincaro, that is too bad about dinner. Fried zucchini is one of my most favorite things to eat.

I had this awesome zucchini at Bravo the other night. It was shoestring style, and batter fried. So I tried to make it. My tummy hurts something terrible. And the whole place needs to be fumigated cause all the boys in here stink!

And then the stupid tops are triangular, non-wire, meaning no support, or push-up with tons of padding.

that's cause they are made for girls whose boobs are made of stuff that stands up all by itself even when they lie down....

no way! but normal boobs need a little support. only fake boobs completely defy gravity. unless you're really lucky. :)

Yeah, I don't know how people can go around bra-less (all day). I don't have large breasts, but I hate the feeling of my boobs hanging down or bouncing when I go down the stairs.

my hubby was flipping channels and some hoochie was jumping up and down in one of those triangle tops. honest to goodness her boobs just didn't move. i think it would hurt to have something immobile like that sitting on your chest. ugh.
Yep about the flat-boobs (also why I posted in the girls' forum! lol) I kept seeing these ones that said "shelf bra". I'm sorry, but I need a bit more than that teeny tiny piece of elastic. heh

Some of my shirts have a shelf bra, but unless it's a camisole and I'm wearing it under something or around the house, I still wear a regular bra with the shelf bra. The combination is kind of nice - lots of support, and no one can tell when you're cold.

I can't wear bikinis cause i'm too short and too fat
i've been working out with a fiend, and the numbers keep going up.
why can't life just be easy and you can be curvey and not be yelled at by your doctor??

lol Arti...my boobs are big enough that I definitely don't need a padded bra, but I wear one with a little bit of padding to guard against the dreaded THO. I'm always terrified that my nipples might point in different directions because of how I stuffed myself into my bra that day.

I like the lightly-lined bras. They don't feel too bulky but are suitable to wear under a fitted shirt.

It isn't my fault they do that.

rotfl yep yep
nothing like having to do a "nipple check" as you are getting dressed
bahahahah nipple check!
*totally relates*
i swear the one time i find the perfect bathing suit for my body, i'm buying like a dozen of them to avoid having this shopping experience ever again. my sympathies, IAmJen.

I actually found a decent bathing suit last year that I just picked off the rack and threw at the cashier after spending hours of trying on swimsuits. Either it really is decent, or I have just given up and don't care. If you think I'm look like a whale, turn around!!! From now on my motto is, if it's comfortable I'll wear it.

I go around braless alot. They're that small. I hate swimsuit shooping, because when I try it on, the mirror always makes me look bigger, or thats just how it seems.

I like them however they grow. They're an A cup now, but who knows what the furure holds.
