Apparently Aveda recently reformulated their lipsticks and did away with the beeswax, making them totally vegan, except for their much smaller line of Uruku lipsticks which still do contain beeswax.
I purchased two tubes, and as a die-hard lipstick hound I have to say that it's really great stuff. It goes on smoothly, lasts a long time, comes in a huge variety of colors, and has a nice minty/licorice smell that is pleasant but doesn't linger.
Also, the colors are sold in just the twisty inner-tube (no outer casing). The idea is to purchase a refillable case in order to produce less waste. But, if you're not bent on having a pretty package the tubes come with clear caps and can be used alone.
This is really good stuff.
