View Full Version : No period

Okay, this has really been bothering me, but I haven't had my period since the end of January. Although I have been anorexic (initially lost my period, then regained it -- it stopped again this year) I am recovered, save the days that I can think of nothing else except my "fatness". What else could this be from? And, I have been to the doctor about it, who said that my weight is fine as well as my lab cultures.
During times of stress and change in my life, my period has been irregular. Do you think this might be the case with you?

Maybe -- I have been SO stressed recently trying to get in all of my school stuff since I'm graduating from highschool a semester early (which will be this coming December). I also don't respond to stress very well AT ALL, soooo...
Should I wait it out, or go back to my doctor and ask him for a pill to help get me started? I did that during my recovery before...

Either way, you should talk to your doc. By "pill" do you mean birth control?
Mezzo,
I have the same problem, except I've only had 2 periods since LAST january. My doc says I'm fine weight wise, I don't consider myself overly stressed, and all that jazz. They even put me back on the pill to try to get my period to start and it didn't. They keep referring me to a gastrointestinal doctor, and they keep referring me back to the gynos.
I'm going to seek help at the Shands women institute in Gainesville in a few months when I have the time, as it is in Gainesville, only 2 hours from me.

B12 deficiency can definitely cause period loss.

No, it was a pill specifically designed to start your period. I used it after recovering as well, and really would rather not take medicine again if it can be helped.
Rie - Gainesville? Do you live in TX? Be sure and let me know what the doctor says for you.
Catswym - That's interesting; I didn't know that... I'm fairly sure I get enough B12, but maybe I should pay more attention.

Has the doctor done blood work to check your hormone levels?

I'm not sure about Mezzo, but, I had this problem before when I was still an omni.

With me it was actually a very strong birth control pill that they tried.

Gainesville, Florida. I'm in Orlando, just a few hours south.

I don't know, honestly... I guess I could ask next time I go in. :)

I've been having problems with my period for years. For the first couple years, I had maybe one period within a 6 month period. Then after that, I had a period for almost a month straight. I ended up going to the docs. They couldn't "find anything wrong" Now, the period is pretty much gone. When I do get it, it lasts for one day. I'm tired of going to the docs, only to be told there's nothing wrong, when there is, so I'm going to go to our women's health center and see if they can help.
