I've just recently gone vegetarian and it's been working pretty nicely so far. I picked up these slices the other day figuring that I could make a nice sandwich with them for lunch one of these days, but one thing has got me a bit concerned. On the ingredients list is "natural flavors" and it doesn't really expound upon it beyond that. It wouldn't normally bother me, but these are supposed to be like turkey and they're "naturally flavored" which, I would presume means that the flavor was extracted from turkey. Although that would kind of defeat the purpose of the whole thing wouldn't it? It's kind of a silly question, but they don't actually use animals in these things for flavoring do they?

Just a warning to the vegans, one of the Yves hotdogs are now lacto-ovo. I discovered this after I already bought them and was putting them in the fridge when I got home :furious: But the deli slices aren't bad. I think lightlife deli slices are better though.

Since you brought them up, I decided to try them today. I've had a pack of Yves Salami Slices sitting in my fridge for a while, and in fact when I went to go make a sandwhich I discovered they expired two months ago, so I figured I better hurry up eat them. Also found my nayonaise was expired and my bread was nearing it's last day. That tells you how often I make sandwhiches. I didn't think they tasted too bad. I should have toasted the bread first. I never really ate salami when I did eat meat, so I'm not sure how it's supposed to taste though. It was light with a really mild pepperoni flavor to it. I tried part by itself and then put two slices on bread with veggie cheese, nayonaise, lettuce and mustard, and it was pretty good.

Yves was the first brand of veggie "tukey" slices I tried and I've only boughten Yves since! I think it tastes good, sort of like bolgna I guess! Even though I never really like bologna in my omni days, I do like these! Hmm...sounds strange! Maybe me not liking bologna before was more mind over matter, but then again I was eating other meat!! Maybe I'm just weird!

Is it the one called Yves Veggie Dog? I think that's what I have and i didn't notice any egg or dairy.

Yves Ham slices...yummy.
I think Lite-Life and Yves deli products taste the same. In fact they look the same...maybe they are.
Tofurky and Worthington do a good job with the deli slices. Worthington would be my pick but you can only find them in small natural food stores (Worthington is Morningstar Farms high end specialty brand).
The best overall though has to be Field Roast's Grain meats. They are in the form of deli slices but they dont imitate anything, totally original flavors and types.

I have not found them anywhere but Whole Foods supermarkets in my area though.

Their ham is good, the turkey is acceptable with a generous portion of condiments.
Field roast is awesome.

I'd say that's a pretty ringing endorsement. If food that's been expired for two months can still taste good, imagine how yummy it would have been when it was even sort of fresh? :)

I LOVE Yves Turkey Slices. I like all of the slices, actually, but the turkey kind is the best to me with salami in close second. :)

I like the Yves turkey, ham, and bologna slices a lot. I like to use the turkey and bacon to make turkey club sandwiches :lick:

I tried the Yves salami slices last week. They were very good, probably because they are simply much larger pieces of the pepperoni that Yves makes, which I already purchase regularly for snacks.

Are Yves deli slices suitable for freezing? I have a major problem with wasting food, as everything i buy is just for me. I've bought redwood slices in the past, but only managed to eat 2 slices before i had to throw them away.

Yves aren't widely available around here, but I have frozen the Lightlife versions and they were fine.

Yes, the slices are suitable for freezing. I think that it says something about freezing Yves products on the Yves website.

All of Yves products are 100% vegetarian.
be careful, Yves started putting casien in the Good dog so it is no longer vegan, and I'm not sure if you count that as vegetarian or not.
