At first I thought it was too good to be true...Cambell's making a vegetarian soup, but lo and behold, they do. Who has tried it? I had some the other night, it was a little bit salty but good for those times when you're too lazy to make soup and there is none left in the freezer

Yeah, I bring it to work quite a bit. It's not 100% vegan though as it contains whey, but close enough. I like their "Hearty Vegetable" even better. I think that's what it's called, with shells instead of alphabet noodles. But it's like 4 cents more expensive.

Good stuff.

yeah i used to love their vegetarian vegetable. just make sure its the vegetarian kind because the regulat vegetable is made of either beef or chicken stock (cant remember)
too bad it contains whey tho.

anybody know if the kind hearty vegetable mentioned above is vegan?

I think it has whey too. I went to double check but I don't seem to have that kind right now.

I love the stuff. I just bought a vintage ad from the 1950's off of ebay for Campbells Vegetarian Vegetable Soup to frame and hang up in my vegetable themed kitchen! I also like Amy's vegetable alphabet soup, if anyone is looking for a fully vegan alternative.

There was a time when Cambell's vegetarian vegetable soup was actually vegetarian. And, of course, conveniently after my Mom stocked up on it for me I noticed that they started to put milk products in the new, larger alphabets...it was good while it lasted.

What do you mean? It's still vegetarian as far as I know. (Also your text is hard to read).

This is going to sound like a dumb question, but why is whey not vegan? I don't know all that much about vegan-ism except that you don't eat dairy products.

Whey is from milk

The soup isn't vegan because it has egg noodle's in it. I used to eat it before I went vegan, and I thought it was ok, I always had to dress it up with spices, etc. before I would eat it.

The cans around here have egg products in the noodles, but no whey. If you are vegetarian, but not vegan, Campbell's makes a whole mess 'o soups that are appropriate, dietary-wise. I used to eat a lot of soup when I was a poor college student. :)
