Yeah, I didn't vet 'em all for veg orgs only. What about give.org?

Haven't checked www.charitynavigator.org/ either, but I remember hearing good things about it.

give.org doesn't have any vegetarian charities that I could see (though they did have Farm Sanctuary as well as several other animal welfare charities)

If it's a school project then why not do it for your local humane society. :)

I would, except it's for a vegetarian club, and we're trying to find some kind of organization that specifically helps animal rights and/or welfare. (Anything but PETA will do, by the way.)

I like Farm Sanctuary and Vegan Outreach the best, myself.

ETA: I give to Farm Sanctuary. I get lots of mailers asking for additional donations now. ^^;; The PCRM might be good, too.

ETA again: Oh, I just had another idea! Could your vegetarian club collect vegetarian canned goods and non-perishable food items for a local foodbank or food pantry? Lots of people would probably be happy to provide canned vegetables, that's pretty easy to do...

www.fund.org (The Fund for Animals)
www.nwf.org (National Wildlife Federation)

I'm involved with both of these. Read here (http://www.nwf.org/enviroaction/index.cfm?articleId=125&issueId=18) about the Women in Conservation Program.

I didn't realize you were looking for Animal Welfare charities - I though you wanted vegetarian charities.

In that case I recommend, like cernya did, Farm Sanctuary!! :)

Second the recommendation for your local humane society. It is an animal welfare group.
