I went grocery shopping today and splurged big time on everything...fruit, juice, crackers, cereal, and...meat/cheese substitutes!! I am scared to try them but definately don't want them to sit in my fridge/freezer and get rotten!! So...I will list the stuff that I bought and have never tried yet and if anyone has ever had any of them before I would appreciate it if you could tell me what you thought of them and then maybe I will have more courage to try them or at least know what to expect!! So here it goes:
*canned Tuno
*Yves' The Good Deli Veggie Pizza Pepperoni
*Lightlife Smart Bacon
*Lightlife Smart Dogs
*Tofurky Sweet Italian Sausage
*Boca Meatless Ground Burger
*Gardenburger Meatless Meatloaf
*Gardenburger Herb Crusted Cutlet
*Vegan Gourmet Mozzarella "Cheese"
*Vegenaise
*Nayonaise

WOW...I guess I really did go buck-wild, I feel as though I might get fat in the near future, lol! At least I won't have to go shopping for months, well except to stock up on fruit! Thanks for your help!

Yves pepperoni - i think it was too anise-y for me.
tofurky sausage - my boyfriend really likes some of their sausages. i don't know which ones and i don't remember if i tried any. if i did, i wasn't impressed, but i never liked sausage.
boca - i tried their vegan original burger once, and it was absolutely terrible.
vegan gourmet - i've used their cheese on sandwiches, and it added an interesting flavor, but not sure if it's cheesey. my boyfriend has put it in burritos. he thinks it tastes like mozzarella, but i wouldn't know because i never ate mozzarella by itself. i've been planning on trying to make pizza with it.

Most of those products have fairly good shelf lives, so space 'em out. You don't want to consume too many processed soy foods in a short space of time. Best to stick with whole foods as the staple, then use these sparingly.

For instance, I love making pizzas or tofu (or veggie) lasagna with Vegan Gourmet Mozzarella. It's good stuff.

I hear Nayonaise sucks. I'd take it back still sealed and get a credit toward something else, or a refund, if allowed. The other stuff is all right, and that's coming from a guy who never even liked the real thing.

Tuno's not for everyone, but some people like it. I couldn't decide, but ultimately I have passed on buying it ever again.

I haven't tried anything else on that list except the fake bacon, and it wasn't nearly close enough to the real thing to be satisfying. I'd rather not even tease myself. That said, it's not so bad mixed in with a tofu scramble and veggies.

That was definately the plan! I'm definately not the type of person that's going eat processed fake meats every day...but I'm getting sick of going shopping and also sick of trying stuff and never liking it, so I figured if a got a bunch then there should at least be a couple of things I like! Plus I haven't gotten a vegan cookbook yet and am not sure what to do w/ tofu! Is that something that should also be used sparingly? I've had it in like Celantino's Vegetarian Lasagna and stuff and it actually kind of freaks me out! There was too much of it for me and it started to disgust me!!!

I've tried and regularly buy a lot of this stuff.

Smart Bacon: pretty good. The flavor is tasty and bacony, but the texture is not very bacon-like, a bit brittle, but good for sandwiches.
Tofurkey Sausage: Everything Tofurkey is excellent. The Italian sausage was good (my husband really likes it), but I'm partial to the Kielbasa with mustard on a pretzel bun.
Veganaise: Awesome. Can't tell the difference between it and regular mayo.
Vegan Gourmet Cheese. Also awesome, but it must be cooked/heated not eaten plain. The nacho flavor is my personal favorite.
Yves pepperoni: Tasty. I like it on melba toast with mustard, but it's good the trad way on pizza too.

I haven't tried the rest.

i dig nayonaise - it tastes more like miracle whip than mayo. i like that

*canned Tuno - Blech. I didn't like it.
*Yves' The Good Deli Veggie Pizza Pepperoni - We dig it. Put it on our pizzas, or, eat it plain.
*Tofurky Sweet Italian Sausage - all tofurky rocks, including these. these are good in pasta too.
*Boca Meatless Ground Burger - we eat it up. I like you can nuke it in 1 minute and have it ready.

We also recommend:
*Earth balance as a butter substitute. If you haven't tried it, check it out. There's about a million threads here dedicated to it. You can slather it on anything, and bake with it as well.
*Soy Delicious ice cream, all kinds. YUM.
*Palin dehydrated TVP. It's cheaper than veggie crumbles, and adds texture to things like chili, eat. I make meatloaf out of it regularly.
*Spectrum vegan mayo. It's the only kind we've ever tried, and we love it. Can't tell the difference.

As mentioned above, don't eat all these products at once. You can get plenty of protein from other vegan sources. In our house, we use soy meat substitutes as occassion "treats," not as staples.

*Lightlife Smart Bacon - I like these and buy them all the time. Pretty bacon-y flavoured, good in most bacon applications.

*Boca Meatless Ground Burger - Boca burgers taste too real for me. I haven't brought myself to try to ground stuff.

I've not tried anything else on your list, monkey086.

But I second the thumbs up votes for:

*Soy Delicious ice cream, all kinds. YUM. Pecan almond is wonderful and the chocolate pecan brownie...

*Palin dehydrated TVP. It's cheaper than veggie crumbles, and adds texture to things like chili, eat. I like plain TVP, too. I make sloppies with it fairly often. TVP+can of Manwhich and WW buns=good eatin' :hungry: . Plus, it's less than a dollar per pound in bulk vs. $3.89 for a little package of pre-flavoured stuff.

Tried the Tufutti Sweet Italian Sausage last night...it was okay! I think that I'm just not a big meat person to begin with! I can handle some things, but like a big bite of sausage or hot dog just grosses me out! I think most of it is in my mind...o well!

Tuno: There are a million threads about it, but as I always say, make tuno pasta salad! pasta, veggies (corn, green beans, etc), tuno, vegan mayonnaise--mix it all up, serve cold. It rocks!

I've had both vegenaise and nayonaise...I never used to eat real mayonnaise, but I liked them both fine in tuno salad.
