About 6 months ago I noticed a skin colored bump about the size of a nickel on my back near my arm. It doesn't hurt or itch but it hasn't gone away and I am wonderining what it is. I made an appointment with my doctor for Friday. In the meantime, has anyone had anything like this? I am paranoid and thinking it is melenoma or something.

could be a cyst (most are benign and will come and go - i have several!), or a lymph node that's calcified (my son has one on the back of his neck that the specialist told us would eventually go away). it doesn't hurt to have it checked out, though.

youll know after the biopsy if they determine its necessary.

ive had 5 of them all negative and its really stressful, and i have myself screened once in a while and certain areas are photographed. i have one area that was dug out and now regrowing i should have looked at again, thanks for the reminder. it looks like a bullet went through my leg but oh well, at least its gone.

its good you are observent and made the appointment. skin cancer is very serious, many people try to dismiss it as "nothing" but it will kill you if it goes untreated. if that bump is malignant it may be easy to treat you if you caught it early.

i think you will be ok but please keep us posted on how it goes.

take care.

i had a cyst removed in highschool. i'd had it since birth but as i grew so did it. if i poked at it i could feel it move under the skin, it was literally a ball of tissue just floating around under the skin not attached to anything.

hopefully it's something like that, not serious just annoying. let us know what the doc says :)
