I do my best to not eat and purchase any items that are animal derived, but everywhere I turn there is another animal based product. My (former) smart beat lactose free cheese even had calcium from milk! My organic foot creme had lanolin, and my prozac is probably made out of gelatin (hey, you never know..)!!! I'm getting so sick and tired of companies putting unessicary animal things in my products. Pretty soon I am going to be a stinky, starving girl. Des anybody else have this problem? Sorry I am venting. But I am on a 1300 calorie a day diet, so the rare things that are cruelty free are loaded with cals and fat! Whats a girl to do? :help:

50 years ago vegetarians were looked apon with disbelive and were not so accepted - in the days before quorn or linda mc cartney foods. Unfortuanly veganism is now in the same situation and although its happening slowly companies are slowly :dunce: realising the money to be made from producing vegan products (apparently we are a growing trend :beatnik: )
Until the day comes unfortuantly its home made produce buy loads of recipe books and make low fat flap jacks and other goodies, as for lotion i am sure some one can recomend a suitable product!
keep with it :hamster:

I hear you! I was trying to buy some vegan cream cheese yesterday and every single brand had casein in it. Yick!

I definately hear you. Like when my family offers me some bread and I check the package and see "whey.. milk ingredients...", or the other day when I was sick with a spring cold and decided to try echinachea (sp?) and found out the capsules were made with gelatin...
Man I'm so sick of it. I've even heard rumors about some shampoo containing horse fat.. how exactly is THAT supposed to clean your hair? Next thing you know they'll start adding gelatin to tofu to make "Jello tofu" or somthing stupid like that. Blah.

I know! My old hair conditioner had calcium deposits and lanolin in my hair. And my question is, whats the puropse of that in my hair? I need to start my own store, and have nothing with ANY animal products. Thats a fantasy nowadays though..
