This last year they changed the texture of the roast. You no longer need a knife to cut it, it's a lot more tender. I've never had the slices though.

I too very much like the hickory smoked slices. It makes a delicious sandwich with avocado and tomato on whole grain bread. :lick:

I tried the lunch meat once...hickory smoked flavor. The flavor was good but the texture kind of freaked me out. I'll have to try it again later.

You should try the sausages next (especially the Italian)--they are out of this world.

I've only had the Tofurky turkey and didn't like it. Of course I only made it once and could have screwed something up.

I also read on the package that after it was cooked, it could be kept in the refrigerator for up to 30 days. It scares me thinking of what they have to do to it to make it last that long.

I tried it for the first time a few months ago(the roast). I don't know if I cooked it right, but it was okay. It definately needed some form of gravy or dressing.
I haven't bought it since, so I wasn't really as impressed as I hoped to be.
The "lunch meat" slices aren't all that bad though.

I like the lunch meat slices too. My favorite is the one with the pepper. I don't remember what the proper name is. I like the roast also. I wish it were readily available here. I'm just not willing to pay so much for shipping.

Erin~ask your local grocer to carry it. just fill out a comment card and see what happens.

I tried it for the first time last year, at a Tofurkey party that missleigh and her fiance had!

It was very yummy, especially the stuffing. It was a fun party, too. ^_^

I have tried the fake lunch meat slices once. It was 6 years ago when I went vegetarian again after a little break. I took one bit and couldn't eat anymore. It tasted too much like meat and just messed with me.

 We were at our local orchard the other day and bought 4 pks ( they were only $3/ pack there! ). Yeas, they carry Tofurkey at our orchard, how cool is that?! We made open faced tofurkey sandwiches with gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans ( we didn't use all 4 pks  ). It was sooooo good

I dig the sausages. The turkey slices though... eh... it's just kind of chewy stuff. I use them when I've got a hankering for reubens or club sandwiches... just to have something to stick inbetween the bread and mayo.

Ummmm...Tofurky brand.

I believe that Tofurkey is made by Turtle Island Foods (http://www.tofurkey.com).

I only had this once and I made the horrible mistake of preparing it for the first time as a Thanksgiving dinner main course. Long story short, we have a funny family story for years to come.
Maybe if I work up the nerve again I will try the new version with different texture. We'll see...
