I've read about this fiber before but now I'm actually seeing things made with it. My local Marshall Fields carries pillows and comforters made out of this alternative to down or polyester. I did a search and found more info on the product and company:
http://www.cargilldow.com/ingeo/home.asp
http://www.fibersource.com/f-info/More_News/ingeo-043003.htm

I think it's vegan but I don't want to say for sure until I read the entire Cargill Dow Ingeo website. For some reason when I click on "how it's made" the window locks up on me. Maybe someone else can try it and post the information?
I do know that it is made in the USA.

Anyway, I am pretty excited about this! I would definitely like to see fashionable clothing made with this in the near future! :hamster:

It's a pretty high-graphics website and I couldn't copy the entire "How it's Made" section. It did say it was made from corn, but there weren't too many details. It would be interesting to find out if it is made using organic processes.

Thanks for this post. I'd never heard of it before and am looking forward to learning more about it!

Heh. If it's Cargill and Dow, I wouldn't hold my breath on it being organic...
