How was your marathon, CaptainSwab?
As far as the topic goes, Jenelily's non-animal product Nike list just made me much more open to looking into Nike next time I need running shoes. :)

The first one was painful. And hot! 90+ degrees out.
The second one (June) was much better. :) I had better training, there was better whether=better marathon.
Thanks for asking. Its good to see you back on here!
Don't forget to poke your head back into the hamsters thread.

90+ degrees! Ouch! That (temp) would be painful for a marathon even on a "good day." It was early March, wasn't it? You'd think it would be a little cooler than that.
Was the one in June in SoCal?
Thanks for the welcome back. I will start posting again with the Hamsters. :)

For running I wear Saucony shoes. Still have a pair of old converse all stars that I wear everyday. Won't buy converse again since the nike converse thing.

The 90+ one was March 7th. Yep. We happened to have had a heat wave that week. Lucky us. :) The fire department was there hosing us down.
The one in June was in San Diego (in soCal in case you don't know much about CA geography)

Yes, I like San Diego - no wonder the weather was good. :)

I think that it's great when a person contributes to the mitigation of human rights violations by withholding support of certain companies. There are so many atrocities in the world, though, that you must not expect everyone with a conscience to take up your cause or any cause you consider important. There are simply too many ways to be a better person to expect a person to involve themselves in all of them.
It's not that I expect someone to take up a specific cause because I am personally invested in it. However, when the human right violations by a company such as Nike are SO well known, and when there are so many alternatives I certainly question a person's justification of their continued support of such a company.

arnt new balance mostly made in the US still? ive had reeboks and nikes mostly but wouldnt buy them now, price/leather issues. I buy mostly non leather shoes that are less than $25 and am plenty happy, bought one pair of NB sneakers for $35 mostly all canvas but have a couple pieces of leather, just couldnt find other shoes at the stores at the time for the price without any on it. Sometimes its diffcult.
