Ok, they don't taste anything like cheese puffs. But I finally figured out what they *do* taste like - those greasy fried noodles you put in your soup at Chinese restaurants.

TOTALLY the same. I was eating some and started to desire wonton soup and curry. Then I figured out why.

Did somebody say Ting?
These things are great. Pure genius! I hereby declare myself a Ting Head!
The closest thing to Cheetos (although not really that close) that I have tried since going vegan. I’m munching on some right now as I type. A great addition to a lunchtime sandwich, perfect for a picnic. Even a fun name. Say it with me people, “Tings”!
My only complaint is that these don’t come in a 10 gallon bucket.
Go buy a bag right now!

Haha. Man, not just 5 days ago everyone was saying how good and cheesy they were, in this thread* (http://www.veggieboards.com/boards/showthread.php?t=17438), but I still haven't tried them. Greasy fried noodles don't sound too apetizing. :p

I totally think that they taste like cheese puffs. And like Erin, I'm also in favor of the ten gallon bucket size.

Unfortunately, I have to order them. I get mine from VeganEssentials, but most other vegan stores offer them. I see that there are 2 new flavors out now, but so far I have only tried the original. They are made by Robert's Gourmet - the same people that make Veggie Booty. I HATE Veggie Booty though. :spew:

<---Tings junkie.

It's even worse for me--I can get them at the supermarket! Talk about the temptation.

A ten gallon bucket size would be great. I wonder if Robert's Gourmet has a suggestion box or something somewhere online....

Hi Saborm!!! Long time no see! :)
I'm not a big spicy fan. It burns going in. It burns coming out. So I'm not sure when I will try the spicy. And since the other new flavor has been said to possibly taste similar to peanut butter - which I detest - I'm not sure when I might try those either. But I adore the original.
In fact I have a new fantasy that Michael Easton (http://www.michaeleastoncorner.de/mecorner/mecorner.html) will appear on my door step with nothing but a strategically placed bag of Tings. Then all my dreams could come true....

The spicy Tings are yucky. They are really, really, yucky.

I've never understood why everyone besides me seems to think that nutritional yeast tastes like cheese. I like it in some recipes, but on its own, it has kind of a wet dog flavor to it.

Tings=disappointment. :(

I do love tings, but I tried the nutritional yeast and it was yucky. Maybe because it was by itself.

I must say, I've never met another version of Booty I liked. It's like, fruit and vegetable flavored puff'n corn. I can't think of anything more horrendous.

I just tried Tings yesterday so I am digging up this old thread! I had heard about them on this board, and then last night I saw them in my supermarket, they were even on sale (definitely a sign, I think!) I was so scared to try them because I have absolutely hated every fake cheesy product I have tried and don't much like nutritional yeast.

But they were SO GOOD! Yummy yum yummm...and not at all scary. And they don't leave a yucky taste in your mouth like Cheetos used to.

btw I also love veggie booty, but I think Tings will be much more addictive... :lick:

I am glad you all say they do not taste like cheese puffs or Cheetos. If they did, I may have never considered trying them as those snacks are gross beyond explination. Now, I may just give these a shot.

<<<IamJen has made it one of her personal missions in life to try these world-reknowned "Tings", however I'm not completely sure they exist. I've looked at several HFS, including WFM & Wild Oats. WO told me they weren't even on Robert's Gourmet's order sheet. I saw them online at a veg. store but when I went to order them, they were "on order' or something like that.

I'm sad to hear they don't taste like cheese puffs though...I'm hoping to win over my "almost vegan except for that darn cheese" sister.

BTW...Veggie Booty = hands down, without a doubt, the most vile, putrid, disgusting thing I have ever voluntarily put into my mouth. :spew: Words cannot describe my revulsion of this product. Aerated snot would be close. :spew:

I have never thought that nutritional yeast tasted like cheese, but then again... I really haven't eaten cheese. I  nutritional yeast. I have never had tings...hopefully soon I will get some.

Hmm... I used to be a cheetos junkie and was significantly disappointed with Tings. They taste okay, but they taste more like plain corn puffs than cheesy anything.

If you're looking for cheesy taste, tings ain't it... not to say they're not tasty (cuz they are), they're just not cheezy...
