Okay, so as far as I can tell there are no cruelty-free makeup brands where I live, in any of the stores. I believe Bonnebell is okay, but they don't sell foundation (I NEED my foundation!!). I heard Revlon is vegan but I don't quite believe that, so I'm giving them a call tomorrow. Covergirl most definately tests, I already mailed them and they gave me an information package about how "gentle" their tests are..grrr. Oh and I live in Canada, so I can't buy Jane products. I know The Body Shop is supposed to be cruelty free but the nearest store is 2 horus away and last time I checked, they were waiting for their new makeup to arrive. So..help!? I know you can buy foundation online but I don't want to buy the wrong shade...I am ashamed of my Covergirl foundation bottle :frowns: Any suggestions on what to do?

You can buy stuff form the body shop online. www.thebodyshop.com
Also, I don't know how much you want to spend, but almost all higher-end makeup brands don't test, including Clinique (a personal favorite), MAC (another personal fav.-all my makeup comes from them. Costs a lot but lasts a long time), Estee Lauder, Ahava sells moistourizers, ummm, physicians formula and several others. If I remember correctly PeTA has a listing of all of the cruelty free companies and lists all of the make-up companies together, so if you just do a search you're liekly to find all of them.

You can order Zuzu Luxe vegan cosmetics from veganessentials.com, veganstore.com, or adifferentdaisy.com. Zuzu's foundation is the best I've ever used, and it's all cruelty free.

if you have a health food store or even a big zehr's with a natural value section you might be able to find ecco bella which is cruelty free and some of their stuff is vegan (not all, so careful. anything pink/red probably is not cause they still use carmine) also the lady who runs the natural value section of the zehr's here put me onto aubrey which is a line of hair stuff and moisturizer. don't think they do makeup but i really like the moisturizer and it's vegan
i'm running low on foundation too actually.
if you don't mind that it's not exactly vegan, avon doesn't do any animal testing and has several different foundations to choose from. think you can shop online now at avon.ca if you don't have a dealer. you'd have to wait a bit though for the next campaign order to come in (april 30 i think) though

Thanks kpickell! I love ya! :smitten:

Starblossom, I'd be happy to help you choose a foundation color. If you want, feel free to PM me the color of the Cover Girl foundation, I can match it for you. I've had good success helping other VBers this way.

re: Revlon - they're not vegan, they just stopped animal testing awhile ago. Some of the products are vegan, but I'm really not sure which anymore (you'd have to do some serious label reading and probably write the company). If you couldn't find anything vegan, it seems better (at least to me) to buy the non-animal tested product than something from the freaks still putting eyeshadow on bunnyrabbits.

You could also buy from Drugstore.com or Origins.com - they both ship to Canada. There was a new line at the HFS recently too but I can't remember the name (the prices were insane).

I use very little makeup, but I like Origins products. They have several non-vegan items, but if you send them an email, they'll gladly provide you with a vegan-acceptable list.

....and even if you do find out which drugstore brands have some products that *happen* to be vegan, wouldn't it be great to support a vegan company like Arbonne, Zuzu Luxe, etc? Let's make sure that the vegan companies stay in business!

Amen to that!

I'm thinking of offering a special VB discount. Any input? I suppose I should start a new thread for that!

Cool, I didn't expect a popular brand like Revlon to be cruelty free! My store carries their stuff, yipee!

SallyK: Thanks for the offer, that's so sweet! :shy:

I absolutely love Bare Minerals which is pure minerals from the earth. I won't use liquid foundation anymore. I get it from QVC or dermstore.com.
