This is fantastic!! I'm a runner, but since I'm not running for the school team this spring, I need some motivation to keep exercising.
Tuesday 03/23
45 minutes on the elliptical trainer, 30 minutes of hand weights/machines
Yesterday 3/25
40 minute run including warm up & cool down (just about 4 miles), 30 minutes of hand weights

I'm a swimmer, so I do swim practice -almost- nightly. I'm kind of bad and miss a day or two where I can. Normally, it looks like this:
- 1½ hours swim (averaging 2 miles)
- 10-15 minute walk to school
- carrying books around school
But I need to trim some flub and get in better shape, so I'll probably add something to the regime. Jumproping or something of that nature...I'm a horrible runner (10+ minute miles), I have no money for the gym (so cross-trainers & stationary bikes are out of the question) and my bike has a flat tire, which I might be able to fix at some point or other with my dad's help (it's a multi-speed and the gears are attached to the tire, so fixing the innertube requires some mechanical work, which is irritating and stupid). Blahblah, I'm full of all sorts of excuses!

I went to lacrosse practice for about 1.75 hours today. So that was running, scrimmaging, practicing, and some sit-ups and pushups.

Good idea! Yoga for me today. I'm glad it's starting to get warmer so maybe I can get some more exercise and get in shape!

Hey, so what exactly is this thread about? Like just excercising and getting into shape?
If so, I need to get back in shape because I've basically been doing no excercise and drinking lots of soda for the past few months. It's actually starting to get a bit warm outside, so I'll start excercising soon, most likely tomorrow. :)

Most days, I walk home from school, and then I walk my dog about a half mile. At school, I have the torture of gym class and running up four flights of stairs to get to class.. I can't wait for summer vacation where I have more time to get in shape.

This past week wasn't as good as usual.
Monday-1/4 mile warm up lap, tempos, then me and my fellow pole vaulters escaped to the pit to avoid having to do condition that day.
Tuesday-1/2 mile warm up then went and worked with the pole vaulters. Unfortunately there was an invasion from the other high school in my district and there ended up being about 15 pole vaulters.
Wednesday-1/4 mile warm up lap then had to go and do high jump. Not nearly as fun as pole vaulting and I landed on the bar a few times and have a bruised back now.
Thursday-To wet and rainy for track
Friday-no track because there was a track meet that I didn't get to go to (I have band preformances that I am P***** about.)
This week was bad for me. I haven't been running that much in track because I have been working on jumping. I used to do +-2 miles a day. I just found out that my coach wants me to do the 4x800, so I am guessing my amount of running will increase.

I run cross country but refuse to do track :p I wouldn't mind so much if the season weren't 5 and a half months long...but I run anyway.
Today:
4 mile run
2 hour quick walk - one hour with each dog :)
upper and lower free weights: 3 sets of 10 each:
Curls
tricep extensions
lunges (20 reps, actually)
butterfly arm things
90 toe raises
50 pushups
I'm a bit tired now :hamster: But I feel good.
This week is spring break so I won't get to use the weight room...must improvise with home weights !

Out of shape, lazy me ran/walked about 1.5 miles today. Hopefully in a month from now I will be able to do more. I'm convinced I have some sort of medical problem with my ankles since they kill when I run or do any physical activity. My mom just says its because I'm out of shape.

damn. 5 1/2 month season?! Actually, I wish ours were that long. That would get me to work out for more of the year.

Try tying your laces up to the top laceholes - that'll give you more support. I'm sorry I can't give you an exact source, but I remember reading it in a Runner's World magazine at one point. I hope that helps a bit !

Cissy, what type of yoga do you do? I know there's all sorts of different types like meditation, fat burning, muscle building... Do you enjoy it and have you had good results??
