Everyone says it doesn't look too bad...but yuck! I died it black in the fall and had to have it bleached and dyed brown...its a few shades lighter than my roots, which are maybe an inch long. I don't want to dye it, because then I'll have to keep dyeing...
My question isn't about hair dye, though. HOW CAN I MAKE MY HAIR GROW FASTER so I can get rid of the yuckiness? Does anyone know? I want to grow it long again anyway....I hate it short.

Thats the thing about permanent dyes, once you've done it, there isn't much else to do other than strip it (not even sure if you can do that) :(

I've done the same thing myself before. I don't think there is anything to do but wait for it to grow out and invest in some hats :)

Hey,
What I would suggest is first of all, dye your current hair to a color as close as your natural color so you don't have the "roots" effect. Then you can let it grow out naturally without that look that can make you feel like it looks icky.
For growth, I used to take Pre-Natal Vitamins. I am sure there is a specific vitamin in them that makes your hair grow faster, but I don't know what it is. But if you can't figure it out, just get those and they make your hair grow fast.
And remember to get a very short bit trimmed off every few months or so because this does help it grow faster and keep the split ends down.

Try taking spirulina

I usually make a smoothie with the powder-I combine apple juice with frozen fruit and then add a teaspoon of spirulina.

It makes your hair grow fast, and makes your hair look great!

Cool! I didn't know that. I picked up some Spirula-Tein last week in an attemp to get more protein in my diet (it's a soy based protein powder). Spirulina is one of the main ingredients. Does it help your nails too?

When my mom first took it she noticed a lot of things were improving-her skin, hair , nails etc...So yeah I'm sure it helps your nails.

I know you said you didn't want to color it again, but maybe one of those color-enhancing conditioners, like the ones sold at Aveda, could help you. I'm not sure if they're vegan, though. I visit the long hair site on a regular basis, and most people there share the opinion that no vitamin will make your hair grow faster unless you had a deficiency. But I've also heard one or two people rave about the effects of Biotin.

On another note, a friend of mine with naturally medium-to-dark brown hair had hers dyed black for a few years. Her hair was down to her butt and she had it chopped off to her shoulders. From there she let her natural color grow out, cutting bits off every few months, and it never looked bad. I know it's not quite the same as your situation, but I'm betting yours isn't bad either. Maybe playing with curlers 'n nat will help you feel better about it for the time being.

There's nothing you can do to grow your hair faster.

Find a dye that is as close to your natural color as possible and color it about two times (one month apart). It will all start to look the same eventually.

I did this recently. I was tired of dealing with roots. It works great.
