I love Aveda but am trying to find vegan alternatives for everything. I'm having a real hard time finding out if Aveda stuff is vegan or not. Can anyone help me out?

a lot of their stuff has beeswax in it. but they are good about listing all their ingredients, so its not that hard to check.

Aveda is cruelty free. The place that I get my hair done at only uses Aveda products.
Here's some more info:

whether you agree with peta's policies or not, they do have good information on vegetarian/vegan issues. the lists found here are quite valuable in making product choices. they update them every three months or so.
also, every time i've inquired to aveda directly, they have been very responsive.

My favorite products are from Aubrey Organics. TRUE organic. No synthetics. And totally vegan.

i like aubrey organics' herbessence makeup remover (http://www.aubrey-organics.com/product1.cfm?product_id=048&cat=15&subcat=30) (only $6.95!). works really well. unfortunately, i haven't found many of their products locally. i'd like to try their haircare items.

I'm using one of their shampoos and one of their conditioners right now (well, not this second), and the shampoo is kind of an odd texture for someone used to the typical crap, but it seems to work great, and there aren't any petroleum products in it (other than whatever may happen to leach from the actual bottle into the product), so I'm happy.

I bought Aveda shaving cream for men, and also an Aveda shampoo. Lemme tell ya, my hair has never looked shinier. Aveda rocks. A little on the expensive side, so I'm dreading running out, being the unemployed bum that I am.

At least their powders seem to contain silk and carmine :(
But lip gloss is vegan at least :)

They've recently reformulated a lot of stuff (in the make-up line) to be vegan acceptable. All of their lipsticks are now A-OK except for the very limited Uruku line.

for anyone who is using aveda's haircare and skin care...esp. shampoo/conditioner or cleansers.... don't use as much as you normally would with other shampoos... just because it doesn't *feel* like it's working doesn't mean it isn't. A little bit goes a loooooong way, hence the expence.

Hi guys,
I believe Aveda is now owned by L'Oreal. They have been struck off the Choose Cruelty Free list (http://www.choosecrueltyfree.org.au/list.html) see the companies that declined to be reaccredited.
I emailed them quite a while ago asking why they hadn't been recredited with CCF (australia's high profile, not for profit org that accredits companies that do not test on animals) and they gave me an answer that went something long the lines of 'we get so many surveys, we don't have time to fill them all out.'
The trouble is, they'd been filling this survey out for years and just stopped!
CCf say they declined to apply for reaccreditation.
Just thoguht I'd let you all know!
