Hey, I was at whole foods and they finally caught onto the craze. So far they had cheddar and mozzerella. Cheddar was kinda weird cold but I can see it being great for mac n cheese. Have yet to try the mozerella. Any suggestions?

<gasp> I'm from around Chicago too, and I've been dying to finally get a hold on some of this stuff. Which Whole foods did you go to out of curiosity?

I found it at a Whole Foods in San Diego, about a month or so ago. So, if it's been sighted in both San Diego, and Chicago, I would hope all Whole Foods are now stocking it.
Suggestion: Make nachos. With salsa and guac. Yum.

Nirvana, I got it in Evanston on Chicago Ave, but they probably have it down town too. They also had another cheese, Soy Moon but it had Casien in it. I still might give that a shot. Wasn't impressed by the cheddar but the mozzeralla was good.

Ahhhhh!! I need to get some! There was a thread a month or two ago about how someone found it in Florida at WF, so I checked mine (suburbs of Chicago). They didn't have it, so I called the dairy department to see if they could order, and the guy said I'd have to buy the whole case if they did a special order. I'm planning on going back sometime soon, so I'll check. If not I'll ask my sister (she lives in Chicago) to look near her, maybe she can get me some. Too bad, I was just in Chicago last night!

Do you think that they'd have it at one in Texas? I want to try it....

Would be great to see it at the WFM we usually go to. It's a pain to go to Erewhon just for phony cheese.

I got the last of the mozzerella vegan gourmet cheeses at whole foods today! I'm gonna try it tonight. I really hope it's as good as everyone claims, or I'm going to be majorly disappointed.

I had a craving for Mac & Cheese and saw the post on Vegan Gourmet. I've never tried it! Anyway, I just had to gloat for a second as Follow Your Heart (they make Veganaise) makes it and I just happen to live five minutes away from Follow Your Heart which is a little rest/store as well!

There are nine departments, and thus nine buyers, at each Whole Foods Market. They get to determine what new products to bring in. So, with that being said, you need to hassle the person at customer service for comment cards every single time you go to the store to get them to carry something new!
It would be even more effective if you stood around the dairy section and asked whoever was working there if the "dairy buyer was in today?" and hopefully they'll say yes. Then ask that person to start carry Vegan Gourmet cheese!
Right now I'm pestering mine to carry nonhydrogenated Better Than Cream Cheese.

I work at Wild Oats, part time. We do not carry this, at least in the Indiana stores. Basically, with Wild Oats, everything that is carried is decided at the corporate level. I like how Whole Foods operates as they let their department buyers for each store decide. I think that leads to better customer satisfaction.
Does vegan gourmet use non-hydrogenated oils? I thought they did, thus, the reason why Wild Oats doesn't carry it. I thought Whole Foods follows the same guidelines when it comes to that.

Nope! It's not a health food, but the oils aren't hydrogenated.
I use it to make pizza, mac 'n cheese, alfredo sauce, fondue, you name it!

In order for a buyer to bring something in it has to be on the approved list on the corporate level, but yeah, they do have a choice in what they carry if they have limited space and must determine what they can't carry. ;)

A while back I asked the manager of the dairy department at WF if they would order some and he said he'd look into it. So far, nothing. But I shouldn't complain. At least I can get it at another store a little bit futher away. To think that there are some poor, unfortunate vegans who have never tried it at all

Poor being the key word. I saw Vegan Gourmet at a Whole Foods I went to and it's definitely not something I could continously buy price-wise so I don't want to get addicted therefore I decided to stay away from buying it at all :'(

I hope mine starts carrying this--I haven't had any cheese at all since going vegan because I can't find any that's actually vegan.
