I am looking for an AP study book for AP European History, and am having a harder time than expected. Are any of you guys taking AP classes? If so, are you getting review books, and which ones are you getting? I got an REA one, and goes so indepth that the I can't focus on the big picture, which evidently is what you need to focus on.

I'm in AP Government, but I've never bought any review books... I'm sorry I can't be of more help. Maybe ask your teacher?

I'm in three APs right now (I know, what the hell was I thinking?!) but I know sometimes the book publisher has a study book that you can buy as a sort of supplement to the text book and a review book. I don't know who my calculus review book is by but I know my school is stocking them in our bookstore, so you may want to see i your school does the same thing. Other than that, I've heard good things about Princeton Review books for APs. You can usually find them at Barnes and Noble or Borders. If you go onto Amazon you can also sometimes find reviews of how helpful the books are, which helps a lot. good luck on your search!

What does AP stand for?
And what is it..?

DannyKass - AP stands for Advanced Placement. They're college level courses offered in high school... if you pass a big nationwide test (the AP exam) you can get college credit for it, meaning you may not have to take it in college, and save yourself money. Plus, they can raise your GPA.

brownie -- i'm taking three APs too! wow, i didn't think there was anyone else in the world that crazy, woohoo! :p

as for the initial post... i'm taking AP euro too, and kind of "borrowed" my teacher's review book... haha. well see, it's weird... the second half of the class was cancelled because my teacher is on.. something of a leave of absence for the rest of the year. but there are still a few of us who want to take the test, so we have this tutor group deal going on, in which we learn more in two hours than our real teacher taught us all semester. haha. but anyway, our tutor guy has a buttload of review stuff, and he makes photocopies of stuff :)

i have an AP spanish review book that i like, never look at. haha. seriously, waste of twelve bucks. especially since it didn't come with a tape... part of the test is listening, and the narratives and dialogues during the test are spoken by native speakers, but the book says "have a friend/family member/teacher/etc read the parts" -- because THAT really has the same effect -_-

i don't have any review stuff for the AP english test i'm taking, because i'm arrogant and don't think i need it :p oh yeah, and there's a chance i might take the AP physics test this year too, making me probably the only student in the history of our school (or the world? haha) taking four tests in one year, and securing my spot as ultimate overachiever. haha. i don't think anyone from my school has even ever taken the physics one before, that in itself is kind of exciting!

I took AP Physics last year, and wow, I really should have gotten a review book. I pretty much used my text book and teacher's notes to review, and sadly, I spent $70 for nothing. I got a 2 on the test...grr...I thought I would have atleast got a 3. oh well. This year I'm taking Spanish 4 AP, Environmental Science AP, and Government and Politics AP. Yay! lol

I know a kid at school doing 5 APs. Kids doing 3 and 4 are pretty common at my school.

AP Spanish language sucks. That test was crazy! But guess what sucks even more? AP Spanish Literature which I will undoubtedly fail this May. Hooray!

I'm getting a Barrons AP prep book for AP English Lit and Comp. The Barrons SAT book helped me a lot, so I'll give them another try.

yeah, one of my best friends is taking 4 APs. Crazy girl. Another friend is taking 5, she belongs in a mental ward....
I was going to take 4 APs, but then I decided I had worked my butt off for three and half years and I didn't really want to spend my entire senior year at home studying. I'd rather spend it at the VB :p

Ha, word. I was going to take AP Calc next year, but I decided that I never want to be a math teacher... plus I'd rather take Psychology/Sociology. And I can't take AP Chem, because I didn't take Advanced Chem. And AP US History is a helluva lot of work. I figure three total through high school is good.

4 in a day. harsh. 5 in a day is impossible at my school. we do block scheduling, so you can only take four classes in any given semester anyway, because the classes are like, an hour and a half long. but the second semester, AP classes are only half a block, so it's not AS bad ^_^

i wish our school offered ap chemistry :( or actually, a lot more ap classes than it does. although, it wouldn't really help me out now, since i'm a senior... and i slacked like hell my freshman and sophomore years, so i ended up with a slacker schedule my junior year when i actually wanted to try. haha *lame* actually.. i don't think our school has any ap science classes.. that's really lame :O my physics class is just listed as "advanced physics" and it's not technically an ap class, though i guess that was my teacher's intent.. but it was her first time doing the class so she wasn't sure, and i'm the only one in the class who wants to take the test. haha *geek* my school has um.... ap english, ap calculus (which i could have taken had i taken trig last year instead of this year but oops, slacker), ap spanish (but it's ok that i couldn't take calc because it was the same block as this class, and it's the first year we had ap spanish and i was one of the kids who fought to get it last year, so it's all good), ap european history, ap us history, ap world history, um... that might be all, i think any of the other classes that come to mind are just honors classes.

my high school offers

AP Human Geography
AP US Goverment and Politics
AP Human Studies
AP Physics
AP Studio Art
AP Photography
AP Lit and Comp
AP Lang and Comp
AP Calculus (sp)
AP Trig
AP Artistic Studies
AP British Lit

and i think that is it. Artistic Studies is a less hardcore version of Studio Art. *ahem* I wanna take AP Human Geo, AP British Lit, and AP Studio art.

AliasSpy: how is ap envrionmental science? I am thinking about taking that next year (my school offers it as bio 2 tho.), only i would be taking it with honors chemistry. I'm not sure if I am that stupid yet.
My school offers
AP Language and Comp
AP Lit and Comp
AP Spanish
AP Spanish Lit
AP French
AP Stats
AP Calc
AP Physic
AP Biology
AP Euro
AP US
AP Gov
AP Econ
AP Studio Art
plus English 2 honors and Chemisty honors (we get the extra grade point, but no college credit).
i am taking AP Euro this year, and English 2 honors. There are probably people at my school taking 6 AP classes, but I don't know of any. A few of my friends are in AP Euro, English 2 Honors and Honors chemistry. I pretty sure the only thing you have to do to get the honors in chem is to do a science fair project though.

vegansurfer, to me, environmental science is REALLY easy, so you should take it if you want, I pretty much took it for a GPA booster (I'm mad, my average is a 99.14 and I'm ranked 151 out of 563).

vegansurfer

environmental science sounds like a lot of fun. My only concern is that my school offers biology 2, and you have the chance to take the ap environmental science test in May if you want to, but I don't think the class spends any extra time prepping you for it. I am just weird and want to take two science next year. It is my way of trying to get me to stay at public school rather then transfer to a charter school.
I want the GPA boaster also. I'll have a chance for a 4.3 next year. I could go for the 4.4, but I HATE history, and don't think I want to take AP US...

a friend of mine took like 2 AP classes, but he took some insane number of exams and got awesome scores on all of them. i think he said it translated to 60 credits at most colleges.
