Anyone out there doing the South Beach Diet?

I have been doing it since January 4, 2004 and it is great...

Just wanted to know if there were any others out there.

I have lost about 12 lbs so far..down to a size 4 again! Yay!

You know, I've read a bit on it, but am kind of in the dark about it. Can you explain it for me? :)

I try to incorporate the concepts of the glycemic index and load, but it's pretty hard to do phase 1 without dairy or meat. Mainly I'm just eating intuitively, because I have a good sense of what's healthy and what's unhealthy, and I think south beach does a good job of separating those two, so I almost follow the diet anyway.

The south beach diet (as far as I can tell) is based on the glycemic index. Foods with high glycemic indices don't make you full very fast, so you eat more. This would include things like bagels. Foods with low indices make you full, so you eat less. That's your vegetables and some fruits. I think the guy who wrote the book now endorses the glycemic load, which combines the calorie density and the fillingness of food. Carrots, for example, have a high glycemic index but a low glycemic load. Does that help?
