Yea, yesterday at school i had a bad headache, but it was dull so i figured it was just a minor thing. i got last night, and i felt really sick. my head was pulsing, and my heart was racing. my sore throat started to get worse, so i willingly went to bed (this is rare for me, because i never go to bed on my own free will). I slept from 4.15-7.30 when my mom came home, she wondered where i was, so she chcked in my room. i thought my headache was a migraine, because the sound and light sensitivity had set in. i told her how bad i felt, so she said to try and "sleep it off". i slept for longer, then took a hot bath, because i felt like i was constantly freezing. when i got out of the tub (which was reeeaaaallly hot water), immediately i started to shake again. i bundled up, got on my linux computer only to discover that i felt worse. i went back to bd, then my mom came in. she felt my forehead and face--she claimed i was burning up, which i thought i was freezing. i had abour...5 or 6 blankets on, and still felt chilled. she took my temperature which at that point had reached 102.5 degrees Farenheit. (and this was after 2 aspirin) she freaked and put a cold, wet rag on my head to try to cool me off while she called the doctor. it was 9.20 when we called, we went, and he figured it was some kinda of bacterial infection in my throat that caused a headache and fever. so we went to the only open farmacy anywhere near us (CVS) and got my medicine. now i am on 3 aleve every 4 hours, and 4 times a day cephalexin or something like that. hes still not sure if its strep, and im kinda worried. has anyone ever had these symptoms?

Well, it is true that when you have a fever you actually feel cold. Most of the time it is best to just get some rest and fluids and let the fever run its course. Raising its temp is part of you body's way of fighting the infection. If a fever gets too high, then you can take drugs for it or take a lukewarm bath, etc. like you are doing. Typically 102.5 is a high fever but not life threatening or dangerous or anything. As for the possible strep, if you are getting rest and taking your antibiotic as prescribed, you will probably be fine. Strep is a bacterial infection so if that is what it is, the antibiotic will kill it off. Remember to take ALL of the antibiotic though! Do not stop taking it when you start to feel better. All of the bacteria may not be out of your system and those who survive are then resisant to that antibiotic. NOT a good situation! Okay enough of me sounding like Dr. Mom... am neither a doc nor a mom, I swear (I just learned from listening to my doctor and my mom! :))
I hope you feel better soon!!!!

I haven't had any of those symptoms for a very long time, must be at least two or three years. Hoepfully your temp won't go any higher, 102.5 F seems like the highest people go when they aren't seriously ill (like fatally, pneumonia ill). But make sure you are getting enough liquids, have your mom make you some veggie soup and drink lots of water! I do hope you feel better soon!!

Have lots of fluids! Even though you are going to feel freezing, try only sleeping with one thin blanket or a sheet to let out some body heat. Cold baths are extremely effective in lowering really high temperatures but are brutal for the people stuck taking them. Get some rest and take a few days off to lounge around the house, sleep, go on the computer, watch tv, be a bum, etc.
And dont forget, LOTS of fluids even when you arent thirsty.
I used to get a lot of high fevers but recently I've been getting them less, I am the queen of fever reduction.

Oh, and chances are it isn't strep since you have a lot of bad symptoms other than a really mad sore throat. You can never be too careful though. If you're worried about strep go to the doctor and get a strep test. It'll take you 5 minutes and they should know in a day.
My experience with strep which I get almost every year is that you just get a really bad sore throat for a while sometimes accompanied by a low fever. 102.5 is not low.

Depending on the person, fevers can be higher or lower though, so not to worry... It is normal for me to get up to 103.5 with just the flu. Some people never go higher than 100... it really depends a lot on the person. Keep those fluids going though! No dehydration! :)
Hope you are doing okay.

drink tons of fluids. when I am sick I drink gatoraid (pretty much the only time), and it does wonders. Eat some oranges, even if you aren't hungry.
