My husband and I have had a few pairs of the Scout (though we got them really cheap through QVC's outlet store ) and I don't think they're that great. They're ok, but if you're on your feet a lot and doing lots of physical stuff in them- teh treads seem to wear down quickly. When we lived in Philly an army-surplus store, I. Goldberg's, use to carry Israeli combat boots for about $12/ pair and there wasn't much difference.
