I bought this product at Whole Foods. It is made by Earth & Vine Provisions. It is sooooo goooood. It is made from banana puree, brown sugar and spices. I don't know if the brown sugar is vegan (and neither did the guy at Whole Foods). But, it has sort of a "bananas foster" taste. It is great on Soy Delicious Vanilla (which I don't think is very good by itself) ice cream. I warmed it a little and poured it over the Soy Delicious and sprinkled a few chopped pecans on top. It is also a great dipping sauce for apples. However, this stuff is expensive ($7.99 a bottle). But a little goes a long way as it is very sweet. I love it! :vebo:

It just says spices, and I can't detect a particular spice when I taste. I thought about trying to re-create it myself. Let me know if you try it.

ooooh, i hate it when food manufacturers do that! they are so sneaky! ;)
there might be a recipe online for a sauce like this...i'll hunt around. i'm not really familliar with the spices used in carribbean cooking. does it have a "hot" note to it, as if it contains pepper or something else spicy? or is it just sweet?

lol- being from the Caribbean i notice that a lot of the time they just add the word caribbean to invoke the idea that there is some tropical taste to the item, when in fact folks from the West Indies may not be making banana caramel sauce on a regular basis lol. But then again, who knows, for most sweet pastries and such I know we use a lot of essence (vanilla, almond, pear, anise seed extract), cardamom powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, the usual. Did you taste anything like that in there?

I looked on the Earth & Vine Provisions website and did not get any hints in the description of this product as to the identity of the spices. However, I did get this recipe idea and it was WONDERFUL. I heated some of the sauce in a small skillet and sauted some bananas in it. Then I poured the sauce/banana mixture on whole wheat pancakes. It was heaven. :hungry:
