PixieMagic's thread a ways down got me thinking about Vegan Mayonaise, since I am a new Vegetarian...working towards Veganism- :D
Which brands do you trust and which ones taste good? Thanx so much!

I use spectrum brand. It's the only kind i've ever tried, but, tastes 100% like the real thing to me.

it depends. when i want something miracle-whip-esque, i go for nayonnaise. when i want the really rich, eggy texture of real mayo, i go for vegenaise.

I like Vegenaise the best, but I eat it very rarely because I haven't been able to find faux-meat cold cuts that I really enjoy on sandwiches, and that's the only use I've ever had for mayo, aside from the rare batch of potato salad or spinach & artichoke dip.

Maybe this is only available in Oregon, I'm not sure, but Wildwood brand aoli is like, THE BEST vegan mayo ever. Try it if you can find it.

Veganaise, most definetely.
Nayonaise is way too fake. It's like, if you want to taste diet food, go for it. You know how sometimes you're just in the mood for like SnackWells? You just want something that sort of tastes like cardboard? Well, nayonaise is a good fix for THAT.
If you want a *good* sandwich though, opt for veganaise.
I looove veganaise and avocado sandwiches. Awesome, awesome, awesome.

I've tried Veganaise, Nayonaise and Trader Joe's, and I prefer Veganaise by far.

Cool- Thanks you guys. The next time I go to the store, I am going to get me some Vegenaise.
I also love avocados and mayo sandwiches, CharityAJO! I put onions in mine!

suprised to see so many votes for vegenaise. I've always prefered Nayonaise. Maybe it's because I was raised on Miracle Whip instead of regular mayonaise. //

Definitely agree that Nayonaise tastes like Miracle Whip -- which I never liked. But I haven't had the chance to get some Vegenaise yet! :( I'm sure I'd like it much better.

I have always hated mayo because I hate eggs too, so the thought of mayo grosses me out. Once I bought vegenaise for my fiance to make sandwiches with instead of mayo and to make aoli and sauces/dips with, I can totally hack it because I know there are no eggs in it. He loves it too! But I still don't like it spread thick all over sandwiches or anything.

I've only tried Nayonaise. It's OK but it does have a diet-food taste.
You could use hummus instead of mayo; it's a completely different food but it's a great sandwich spread and super-delicious! Roasted garlic hummus is the best.:)

maybe i'm a weirdo but i love nayonaise. it tastes scarily like real mayo to me, but then i think my mom always bought miracle whip when i was growing up so i guess to me that's real mayo. i'm lowbrow!

i don't know what the "diet food taste" that everyone is referring to is, but nayonnaise doesn't taste like any diet food i've ever had. to me, diet things taste like aspartame or gelatinous (instead of creamy). nayonnaise is a miracle whip replacement, nothing more, nothing less. though it does have half the calories per serving as vegenaise does. vegenaise is almost 100% pure fat, though...grapeseed oil and soybean oil...which explains it's high calorie content. as opposed to nayonnaise, which is mostly tofu.

I definitely agree with you, Kreeli!
In my opinion, Vegenaise is best on toast/sandwiches, but in recipes - like a potato salad or something, I'd rather use Nayonnaise.
Also, I'm not sure how available this is - but if you can get "Miso Mayo (http://www.misomayo.com/)" it's absolutely amazing!
It's so good on sandwiches and wraps!

Are you guys referring to Vegenaise that's made by Follow Your Heart - the same people that make the Vegan Gourmet Cheese? I haven't been able to find Vegan Gourmet Cheese in the Dallas area; so, I was going to order some online, but even buying four packages, the shipping is more than the cheese. Maybe I order some other products to even out the shipping costs.
