I did a search, but couldnt find much about this.

Since all the clothes stores sell sweatshop labour clothes (as far as I am aware), I'm desperately searching online...

I'm looking for websites that sell organically grown, sweatshop-free and fairly traded clothes, preferably in the UK! I'm going to compile a big list :)

Thanks!

www.americanapparel.net sells sweatshop free and some organic cotton clothes. They aren't in the UK though.

Two words: Thrift Store.

Excuse my stupidity, but what is it?!

I don't think we have them in the UK. Are they charity shops?

yep, thrift shop sells used clothes and the money goes to charity. not usually organic, fairtrade, vegan, and sweatshop-free , but instead of supporting the industry you're supporting a charity

>>>>> rootsofcompassion.org (http://www.rootsofcompassion.org) ;) but maybe you knew already! ohh and we're not in the UK but we're not that far from you either ;) actually, our latest batch of shirts are from american apparel

ohh and american apparel (http://www.americanapparel.net) do have an office in london so i would definately recommend you check them out. they have an online catalogue and there is no minimum order and they have such a broad range of clothing, sizes and colors (all with no logos or matoives!)

One of our sponsors - Herbivore Clothing http://www.herbivoreclothing.com/ - advertises sweatshop-free clothing products. I'm not sure if they're free-trade or organic but you could certainly e-mail them and ask.

Yippe thanks everyone!! :D

I've been digging around on google and looked again -- some clothes are soooo expensive!! Nearly $80 for a skirt?! Thats like £50. Ouch!

Anyway I'm going to have a good nose around roots of compassion (hi Sarah!! :) :) )and herbivore clothing :)

The main thing is that they're not sweatshop clothes but being organic is a bonus too!

Go Hemp!

Just because the money goes to charity in a thrift store, the clothes are often used name brand sweat shop clothing that at one point gave the manufactures money. I like thrift stores, but thats just imo on the subject.

Thrift stores are great! There is huge one by me and I can find some really awesome clothes there sometimes, very cheap too! And my local Salvation Army always has 50% of all clothing-saves me even more money! I will RARELY ever buy clothes new.
